Join Our Team: Sushi Cook

New Japanese Steakhouse Opening in Downtown Toronto!

We’re excited to introduce a new Japanese steakhouse located in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District.

This posting is for a current opening.

About the Restaurant

A new Japanese steakhouse is opening in downtown Toronto — a small, considered restaurant rooted in restraint, precision, and reverence for the craft.

Guided by the principles of Japanese simplicity, we showcase exceptional beef and seasonal ingredients at their purest expression. We believe time is the most valuable ingredient — time to raise, to age, to prepare, to gather, and to savour.

Our mission is simple: we are in the experience business. Our people-first culture inspires and empowers our team to deliver moments that matter in an environment focused on the guest experience. Together, we will create a best-in-class hospitality experience.

What You’ll Do

As a Sushi Cook, you will support the culinary team in preparing high-quality dishes while maintaining consistency, cleanliness, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and stock the sushi station with all necessary ingredients and supplies
  • Prepare sushi items, including maki, nigiri, sashimi, rolls, sauces and garnishes according to recipes and presentation standards
  • Complete daily mise en place and ensure the station is fully prepared for service
  • Prepare and portion fish, vegetables, rice and other ingredients with care and consistency
  • Maintain quality, freshness and proper food handling at all times
  • Work closely with front-of-house and kitchen teams to ensure timely preparation and to accommodate special requests and food allergies
  • Follow all sanitation, hygiene and workplace safety standards
  • Assist with stocking, inventory and notifying management of low supplies
  • Keep the work area clean, organized and sanitized throughout the shift and at closing
  • Follow the direction of the Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager and maintain a positive, professional attitude with coworkers and guests

What You’ll Need

  • Previous experience as a Sushi Cook or in an Asian/Japanese restaurant environment
  • Strong knowledge of sushi preparation, including maki, nigiri, sashimi, cutting techniques, and rolling methods
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and calmly in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and food presentation
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada, including Ontario
  • Culinary school certification is an asset

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation, including comprehensive benefits, spending account and professional development program.
  • Opportunity to develop skills and gain experience in multiple disciplines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dynamic and fun office culture with colleagues who share the same core values.
  • Exclusive perks from our portfolio companies, including restaurants and fitness studios.
  • Unlimited vacation policy.
