Job Overview

Join our vibrant Japanese restaurant as a Line Cook specializing in Tempura and Oshi! In this energetic role, you will be at the forefront of delivering authentic Japanese culinary experiences by preparing and cooking high-quality Tempura dishes and Oshi (pressed sushi). Your enthusiasm for food preparation and dedication to food safety will ensure our guests enjoy exceptional meals in a lively, fast-paced environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in Japanese cuisine while contributing to a dynamic team focused on excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook Tempura items, ensuring light, crispy batter and proper frying techniques
  • Assemble and press Oshi sushi with precision, maintaining authentic presentation standards
  • Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen station, adhering to food safety standards
  • Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing, marinating, and garnishing ingredients
  • Support the team during busy service times by efficiently managing multiple orders
  • Ensure proper food handling practices are followed at all times to guarantee guest safety

Requirements

  • Prior experience in food service or restaurant environments, especially with Japanese cuisine preferred
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques including frying, slicing, and assembling sushi
  • Strong understanding of food safety protocols and proper handling procedures
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and customer interaction when needed
  • Willingness to learn new culinary skills related to Tempura and Oshi preparation
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
