Roll This Way is Toronto's leading sushi catering and classes company for over 13 years. We specialize in at home/office/offsite sushi catering where we bring a mobile sushi bar onsite and prepare fresh high quality sushi live in front of our clients. We also host in our Toronto facility or offsite, a fun and interactive sushi making experience for the public and for private events.

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service, sushi preparation, is outgoing and personable with a strong presence and is comfortable in front of crowds. This is a multi faceted role as you will not only be preparing and making sushi for our catering operations but also leading sushi making classes. The candidate must be proficient at capturing and maintaining the attention of students while keeping them entertained and informed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, using fresh ingredients.
  • Ensure all food handling and preparation meets health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing recipes.
  • Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests about menu items and making recommendations.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques and food safety practices.
  • Provide a fun and interactive learning experience for our sushi class students.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation.
  • Familiarity with various types of fish and seafood.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Passion for culinary arts and commitment to continuous learning in the kitchen.
