About the Role

The Operations Chef prepares and presents high-quality sushi and hot food items while upholding company standards for food safety, cleanliness, and presentation. This role plays an important part in daily store operations by following production plans, managing inventory, and completing required documentation to ensure fresh products and minimal waste. A strong focus in this role is on customer service and collaboration with store teams, which helps create a welcoming and positive experience for every customer.

This position operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where store assignments may change on short notice due to franchise transitions. The role is temporary in nature and based on business operational needs and assignment availability. Candidates should be flexible and open to working at different retail locations, and occasionally in nearby cities or locations, as required. Reliability, adaptability, and a willingness to travel are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Prepare and present high-quality sushi and hot food items, including both core menu and promotional offerings.
  • Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared in full compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times. Conduct regular inventory checks of ingredients and supplies; report shortages and assist with restocking as needed.
  • Produce sushi and hot food items based on the Daily Production Report (DPR) to meet sales and operational goals.
  • Accurately complete required logbooks in accordance with Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP).
  • Adhere to assigned schedules and store operating hours with consistent reliability.
  • Provide exceptional customer service through positive, professional, and courteous interactions.
  • Communicate clearly, respectfully, and professionally with team members, store staff, and management.
  • Uphold company standards for appearance, conduct, and professionalism, including proper uniform and ID use.
  • Travel to various retail locations from the chef’s home base, occasionally for extended periods.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Advanced Fresh Concepts Franchise Corp. 2
  • Maintain an active Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include purchasing produce for inventory (with reimbursement) and occasional delivery services. Qualifications & Skills.
  • High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety, preferred.
  • Proven experience as a sushi chef or in a similar culinary role.
  • Strong knife skills with knowledge of both traditional and modern sushi preparation techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Canada Candidates (Required): Valid Food Handler’s Certification and Allergen Certification.
  • Flexibility to work at different locations based on business needs.
  • Experience using business applications such as ADP (payroll and HR functions) and Concur (expense reimbursement) is a plus.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently and maintain quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain personal hygiene

Salary: $21.00-$23.00 (CAD)
