Sushi On Edmond – Burnaby, BC

Job Overview

Sushi On Edmond is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Sushi Cook to join our kitchen team.

The ideal candidate takes pride in preparing high-quality sushi and Japanese dishes while maintaining consistency, cleanliness, and food safety standards. We are looking for someone who works well in a fast-paced restaurant environment, communicates effectively with team members, and demonstrates a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sushi, rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese menu items according to restaurant recipes and standards.
  • Prepare and organize ingredients for daily kitchen operations.
  • Maintain consistent food quality, portion sizes, and presentation.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, and food safety procedures.
  • Keep kitchen stations, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members to ensure timely and accurate orders.
  • Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
  • Follow instructions from kitchen supervisors and management.
  • Assist with general kitchen duties and daily preparation as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization.

Preferred:

  • Previous sushi restaurant or Japanese cuisine experience.
  • Experience preparing sushi, rolls, sashimi, or other Japanese dishes.
  • Previous restaurant or commercial kitchen experience.
  • Food Safety Certification (FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent).
