Overview
Hiring: Live-In Nanny / Support Worker for 10-Year-Old Girl with Down Syndrome

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dependable individual to provide one-on-one care for a 10-year-old girl with Down syndrome beginning in September. This is a live-in position focused on creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment while assisting with daily care needs.

The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, attentive, and experienced working with children with additional support needs. The family is also hoping to find someone who may be able to assist with light household help alongside caregiving duties.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide full assistance with personal care and hygiene, including toileting support and diaper/brief changes as needed
  • Assist with feeding and meal preparation according to dietary requirements
  • Support safe mobility between activities, including assistance with mobility aids if required
  • Use positive reinforcement and redirection strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviors
  • Maintain constant supervision and ensure a safe environment
  • Observe and respond to non-verbal cues or medical needs
  • Assist with light household duties when possible

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children with special needs such as Down syndrome, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, or developmental delays preferred
  • Patient, compassionate, and reliable personality
  • Physically able to assist with lifting, bending, and mobility support
  • Strong communication skills
  • RCMP Check and Child Intervention Check preferred
  • CPR/First Aid considered an asset
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle required
