Job Summary
We are looking for dynamic, focused individuals to be part of a team supporting at-risk youth.

Responsibilities

• Maintain or increase the level of well-being, permanency, safety, and connection to supports. Establish and maintain open and effective communication as directed between children and youth, Child and Family Services, treatment team members, parents and other stakeholders to complete job duties.
• Guide children to develop the skills, shift perspectives and behavior's.
• Assist with developing youth driven care plans that meet the unique needs of the clients that address needs in a trauma informed manner.
• Attend to the physical needs and medical requirements of the children.
• Provide teaching support to help clients acquire new skills and improve existing ones.
• Monitor and document progress, reporting any concerns or significant changes to supervisors.
• Record observations and significant information in appropriate reporting formats such as daily documentation, incident reports, discharge reports.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment at all times.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
• Maintain an up-to-date daily routines and schedules.
• Attend to housekeeping tasks.
• Utilize Cree teachings and culturally based programming to teach and guide children in healthy life choices.
• Assist with preparing meals.
• Attend to administrative tasks as required.
• Household upkeep, laundry and other duties as directed by the Team Leader.
• Ensure the physical security of the group home.
• Other duties as required.

Night Shift Responsibilities

• Conduct program rounds with the evening and morning staff to ensure good program order, security, and account for all the children.
• Routinely conduct rounds throughout the night at designated intervals, and as necessary in situations when increased surveillance of the program and children is warranted, e.g., when there are concerns regarding runaways, suicide, self-harm and medical issues.
• Attend to the physical needs and medical requirements of the children.
• Ensure effective follow-through of specific interventions and strategies for each child as per treatment plan and effectiveness.
• Keep apprised of all relevant documentation pertaining to the program and children such as service plans, and the night directives manual.
• Record observations and significant information in appropriate reporting formulas.
• Report information regarding night events, child count, and all significant/atypical situations to the Operations Manager/Team Leader, senior staff or other appropriate personnel as required.
• Maintain an up-to-date bed plan in the night directives book.
• Attend to housekeeping tasks and household maintenance as requested or as part of routine checklists.
• Attend to administrative tasks as required.
• Other jobs as assigned by the Team Leader.

Experience

• Prior experience working with at risk youth is preferred but not required
• Experience working in a youth home setting preferred but not required
• Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team setting
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and situations

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
• Experience 2-5 years preferred but not required

Job Types: Full-time, Casual

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 48 per week
