Fulfilling and well-rounded Supply Chain Manager role with a reputable and well-established BC-based manufacturing company with a loyal customer base across Canada and a 40+ year history. Collaborating closely with folks working in manufacturing, production, operations, and finance. Our Client was established decades ago and creates high quality products with happy customers (B2B and B2C) across Canada. The company sells their products to many large companies that will be familiar to most candidates. In the last couple of years, the organization has undertaken a major rejuvenation of the corporate culture which is ongoing. The Company has a supportive, friendly, and fast-paced work environment, with a focus on their core values and giving back to the community.

What- the Role:

On behalf of our Client, SWIM is recruiting for a new Supply Chain Manager who will oversee the end-to-end purchasing process, supplier performance, inventory planning, and compliance. This role is pivotal in driving operational efficiency, ensuring product availability, and maintaining high standards of quality and supplier accountability. The Manager will collaborate cross-functionally to support business goals, optimize costs, and guide a team of 2-3 direct reports toward continuous improvement.

What- the Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with financial goals, inventory needs, and production demands.
  • Oversee the purchasing cycle including order issuance, approvals, vendor compliance, and cost control.
  • Build and manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance through KPIs and scorecards.
  • Lead vendor onboarding and qualification processes, maintaining up-to-date documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • Align inventory policies and safety stock levels with production schedules, vendor performance, and market trends.
  • Analyze procurement data and cost structures to identify savings opportunities and improve reporting processes.
  • Ensure quality standards, safety compliance, and audit readiness across all sourced materials.
  • Provide strategic oversight of inventory across branches, minimizing risks of shortages or overstocking.
  • Mentor and manage a team of procurement and planning professionals, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
  • Monitor market trends and global sourcing risks to support innovation, cost-efficiency, and business continuity.

Who- the Candidate:

We’re seeking a proven Supply Chain leader who is self-motivated, resourceful, and business-minded. Qualified candidates will have at least 7 years and ideally 10+ year of relevant work experience and must have worked for at least a few years in the manufacturing sector.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are important in this role, as is a collaborative approach to work and the ability to partner with colleagues in a variety of departments such manufacturing, production, finance and operations.
  • A post-secondary degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
  • Additional credentials such as a master’s degree or industry-recognized certifications (e.g., SCMP, CPIM, CSCP) are highly advantageous.
  • Evolving responsibility in procurement and/or supply chain roles in manufacturing sector.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing teams responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and inventory planning.
  • Solid track record of negotiating with suppliers and drafting or managing contracts.
  • Proficient with ERP and MRP systems, with ability and willingness to continuously optimize, automate, and customize system use.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, reporting, and supply chain performance metrics.

How Much:

Base salary commensurate with level of education and relevant supply chain work experience- likely in the range of $88,000 to $103,000. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM.

Where:

The Supply Chain Manager will be based out of the Company’s corporate headquarters in Burnaby. The office has an open and friendly work environment. Free employee parking. The Manager will also visit the nearby manufacturing facility so they can build relationships with the production staff, improve cross-departmental communication and data sharing, and get to know the operations first-hand to benefit the robustness of their supply chain.
