About Us

We provides globally attested and premium quality custom steering systems for the marine industry through a worldwide network of representatives.

We believe that steering is one of the most critical elements of any vessel. Jastram Engineering is built on the foundation of high-quality steering systems and their importance to the operation of any vessel.

The safety and comfort of the vessel and crew are in part dependent on how well the steering system functions and so, Jastram is compelled to design and manufacture the highest quality marine steering systems.

Job Summary
We are a growing manufacturing company (~50 employees) specializing in engineered, project-based products. We are seeking a hands-on Supply Chain & Planning Lead to bring structure, accuracy, and control to our planning, inventory, and ERP (SYSPRO) processes.

This role is ideal for someone who understands the challenges of high-mix, low-volume manufacturing—where every job is different, engineering changes are frequent, and planning requires both system discipline and real-world judgment.

You will take ownership of MRP and inventory while helping build the processes needed to support a scalable, project-driven operation.

What You’ll OwnMRP & ERP (SYSPRO) in a Project Environment

  • Run and manage MRP in a job-based / project-driven environment
  • Ensure MRP outputs reflect real project timelines, not just standard assumptions
  • Identify and fix issues caused by:
  • Incomplete or evolving BOMs
  • Engineering changes (ECOs)
  • Inaccurate lead times or project schedules
  • Improve how SYSPRO supports project-based planning, including job structure and material allocation
  • Drive discipline in system usage across engineering, purchasing, and production

Inventory Accountability (Project-Sensitive)

  • Own inventory accuracy across raw materials, WIP, and project-specific allocations
  • Ensure materials are properly allocated to jobs and not lost in the system
  • Reduce “missing” or misallocated inventory common in project environments
  • Implement cycle counting and controls that reflect project-based workflows
  • Manage excess and obsolete inventory driven by project changes or cancellations

Project-Based Production Planning

  • Build and manage production plans aligned with project schedules and milestones
  • Coordinate closely with engineering and project management teams
  • Adjust plans dynamically as designs, timelines, or priorities change
  • Ensure long-lead and critical components are identified early and planned accordingly
  • Support job tracking and visibility from release through completion

Supply Chain Execution

  • Partner with purchasing to align material orders with project timelines
  • Manage long-lead items and supplier dependencies critical to project success
  • Reduce last-minute expediting by improving upfront planning
  • Support supplier communication around engineered or custom components

Process Improvement (Critical for Growth)

  • Bring structure to planning in a non-repetitive manufacturing environment
  • Improve coordination between engineering releases, purchasing, and production
  • Standardize how BOMs, jobs, and materials are set up and managed in SYSPRO
  • Reduce firefighting caused by late engineering changes or poor data
  • Build scalable processes to support increasing project volume

What We’re Looking ForExperience

  • 5–8+ years in manufacturing planning, supply chain, or production control
  • Experience in engineered-to-order (ETO), make-to-order (MTO), or project-based manufacturing
  • Strong hands-on experience with SYSPRO (or similar ERP with MRP in a job-based environment)
  • Proven ability to manage planning in a high-mix, variable environment

You’ll Stand Out If You’ve:

  • Worked in industries like industrial equipment, marine, custom fabrication, or engineered systems
  • Managed planning where BOMs evolve and are not always “perfect” at release
  • Improved coordination between engineering and operations
  • Reduced project delays caused by material or planning issues
  • Built structure in environments that were previously reactive

How You Work

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solver who can balance system logic with real-world execution
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented in complex environments
  • Able to push for discipline while working cross-functionally
  • Hands-on—you’re in the system and on the floor

Why This Role

  • Direct impact on project execution and delivery performance
  • Opportunity to bring order to a complex, high-variability environment
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership
  • Play a key role in scaling a growing manufacturing business

What Success Looks Like (6–12 Months)

  • MRP better reflects project realities and drives planning decisions
  • Fewer project delays due to material or planning gaps
  • Inventory is accurate and properly allocated to jobs
  • Improved coordination between engineering releases and production
  • Reduced firefighting despite increasing project volume

Pay: $85,000.00-$110,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Dental care
  • Employee assistance program
  • Extended health care
  • On-site parking
  • Profit sharing
  • Vision care

Experience:

  • Syspro MRP: 5 years (preferred)
  • project based industrial machines manufacturing company: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Supply Chain Mgmt Diploma/Cert. Supply Chain Professional (preferred)

Work Location: In person
