Keewatin Place is looking for a dependable and hardworking Produce Clerk to join our team. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of our Produce Department, including ordering, receiving, pricing, merchandising, quality control and cleanliness.

We are looking for someone who is organized, works efficiently and takes pride in keeping the department fresh, well-stocked and appealing to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Produce Department

• Order, receive and merchandise fresh produce.
• Inspect produce regularly to ensure quality and freshness, removing damaged or spoiled products as needed.
• Maintain proper inventory levels to reduce both overstock and out-of-stock products.
• Rotate stock properly to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
• Maintain and update pricing throughout the Produce Department, ensuring products are accurately priced and signed.
• Keep produce displays full, organized and visually appealing throughout the day.
• Receive produce deliveries and ensure incoming products are checked, organized and properly stored.
• Deep clean the produce display cases once per week, in addition to maintaining daily cleanliness of displays, coolers and work areas.
• Monitor product quality, shrink and department cleanliness throughout each shift.

Ordering & Time Management

• Manage time effectively to ensure produce deliveries can be received, checked and put away while also completing the order for the following delivery day within a tight turnaround time.
• Prioritize tasks appropriately to ensure ordering deadlines are met without sacrificing department standards.
• Stay organized and plan ahead to maintain appropriate stock levels between deliveries.

Customer Service

• Be present and approachable on the sales floor.
• Assist customers with questions, product requests and locating items.
• Provide friendly and helpful customer service.

General Store Duties

The Produce Department is the primary responsibility of this position. Once produce duties are completed and the department is in good order, the Produce Clerk is expected to assist throughout the store wherever needed. This may include:

• General grocery stocking and merchandising.
• Cashiering and operating point-of-sale equipment, including cash registers and debit/credit card terminals.
• Facing and organizing products throughout the store.
• General housekeeping and cleaning.
• Assisting other departments during busy periods.
• Completing other reasonable duties as assigned by management.

• Be comfortable lifting, stocking and working in a physically active position.
• Be willing to help throughout the store rather than limiting themselves strictly to Produce Department duties.
• Be friendly and comfortable interacting with customers.
• Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced grocery store environment.
• Have previous grocery, produce or retail experience; however, we are willing to train the right person.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
