Full job description

Here is your opportunity to live and work on the waterfront along British Columbia’s beautiful Sunshine Coast as a live-in Cleaner and Property Caretaker.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual or couple with versatile skills who enjoy property care, hospitality, and coastal living. As a part of your compensation, you will enjoy a private, fully-furnished one-bedroom waterfront suite while overseeing the cleaning, laundry, general property management, and guest service for three oceanfront short-term rental guest suites and one residential owners unit.

As an experienced property caretaker, you bring hands-on knowledge of keeping suites, common spaces, and landscaping safe, clean, and attractive. You understand the importance of providing an exceptional guest experience, recognizing that positive reviews are important to the property’s success.

Responsibilities:

  • Cleaning the suites between guest use and keeping the shared spaces clean and well-maintained
  • Completing laundry duties to ensure towels, bedding, and linens are cleaned and presented to the highest standard
  • Responding politely and professionally to on-site guest issues and concerns using an online guest relations app
  • Performing general maintenance of buildings and outside areas, including minor repairs and basic landscaping, to keep the property clean, safe and welcoming for guests.
  • Maintaining a consistent stock of cleaning supplies and guest suite necessities

Qualifications:

  • You have previous cleaning experience
  • You must be physically able to carry up to 10 kg while navigating stairs and complete the activities associated with cleaning and general building and yard maintenance.
  • You have a strong attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills
  • You can work independently and can proactively identify potential issues and address them as needed
  • You must be able to communicate in English effectively
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs with experience in minor maintenance is an asset

What we offer:

  • A flexible schedule depending on the cleaning needs. The average weekly work schedule is approximately 20 hours with hours being higher in the summer season and less in the low season. Cleaning occurs between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Some weekend, holiday and evening work may be required.
  • Compensation includes a 1-bedroom fully furnished waterfront suite with a full kitchen, washer/dryer, utilities and Wi-Fi. Street parking is available. An approximate value of $1650 per month ($19,800 annually.) Residing on the property in the provided accommodations is a condition of employment.
  • Annual salary is $24,000.
  • No smoking, vaping, or pets are allowed.

The anticipated move-in and start date for this position is early September.

This is a 12-month term with the potential of longer term employment.

Only individuals with Canadian work authorization will be considered.

Please submit your resume with a brief email detailing your experience and suitability for this role.
