Job Description

Job Title: Structural Engineer, PENG

Department: Naval Architect

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the design and development of marine and port structures.
  • Support senior engineers through all project phases — concept, preliminary, and detailed design.
  • Prepare technical deliverables such as drawings, design calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Participate in site inspections, condition assessments, and construction support activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and other disciplines to deliver coordinated project outputs.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, cost estimates, and other project documentation as required.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Ideally 2–5 years of relevant experience in the design or assessment of marine, coastal, or port
infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration
  • Familiarity with the MS Office environment, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of applicable design codes and standards.
  • Some exposure to construction or site work in marine environments would be an asset.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Organized, proactive, and eager to learn from senior engineers.
  • Interest in developing long-term expertise in marine and port engineering
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Controls design using standard software is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Classification society rules, codes, and standards, and international marine
rules and regulations; Marine detail design experience considered an advantage.
