Position Summary

The Aircraft Structures Assembler is responsible for assembling, fitting, aligning, and installing the structural components of aircraft, such as fuselage sections, wings, control surfaces, and other major assemblies. Working from engineering drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing specifications, the assembler ensures that all structural assemblies meet the stringent quality and safety standards required for the client.

This position plays a key role in the precision manufacturing and integration of aircraft structures, directly contributing to product integrity, airworthiness, and production efficiency.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit aircraft structural components such as fuselage frames, bulkheads, floor panels, wings, and flight control surfaces.
  • Install structural details, brackets, stringers, ribs, and skins in accordance with engineering blueprints and process specifications.
  • Perform precision drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastening operations using aerospace-approved tools and equipment.
  • Align, shim, and secure parts and subassemblies to maintain exact tolerances and structural alignment.
  • Install and adjust structural elements to ensure correct geometry and fit for final assembly.
  • Apply sealants, primers, and protective coatings to prevent corrosion and meet design requirements.
  • Use jigs, fixtures, and alignment tools to ensure accuracy during assembly.
  • Conduct quality checks and first-article inspections to verify conformance to specifications and tolerances.
  • Identify and report deviations, defects, or non-conformities to engineering or quality control.
  • Complete production records, work orders, and inspection documentation accurately.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company standards for aerospace manufacturing.

Skills and Qualifications

  • College diploma or vocational training in aircraft assembly, manufacturing, or mechanical technology.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in aircraft structural assembly or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and pneumatic tools, precision measuring instruments, and assembly jigs.
  • Knowledge of riveting, drilling, sealing, and fastening techniques used in aircraft manufacturing.
  • Understanding of materials such as aluminum alloys, composites, and titanium.
  • Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to maintain precision under tight tolerances.
  • Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to aerospace industry standards.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed primarily in a production hangar or assembly line environment.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, bending, and working in confined spaces.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • May involve shift work or overtime depending on production schedules.
  • Exposure to noise, vibration, and manufacturing materials (sealants, adhesives, lubricants) within safety limits.
