This position reports to the Cafe Manager and in their absence, to the Supervisor on shift.


Primary Duties


Hospitality

  • Connecting with guests as soon as they enter your location, commencing their visit in a friendly, confident and welcoming manner; employing highest standard of service demeanour
  • Communicating all procedures and policies to guests; including dine-in and take-out procedures and collection points, health & safety procedure and Laptop Restriction / Seating policies as necessary. Taking care to educate every guest with empathy and respect; remaining polite and supportive in their stay at your location.
  • Preparing quality foods and beverages for customers, in a timely manner and following set recipes and procedures, whilst simultaneously upholding guest experience standards and providing customer connection
  • Offering support to guests in determining their needs regarding food and beverages, assisting them in decision making and providing knowledge and suggestions on available products
  • Providing up-to-date dietary and ingredients knowledge to customers (and other staff) on all food and beverage products, or promptly locating information

Operations

  • Adhering to company policy as stated in the Employee Handbook at all times, whilst maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for staff and customers
  • Adhering to Food Safe, Work Safe policy’s and following BC Liquor laws
  • Following procedures and completing tasks as set by the store manager
  • Maintaining a consistently clean, sanitized and safe work environment throughout shifts. This extends beyond the service area and includes bussing and cleaning tables, and dishwashing
  • Setting up food preparation areas and equipment, espresso machine and all serving stations in preparation for shift
  • Clean up and pack down of food preparation areas and equipment, espresso machine and all serving stations at end of shift
  • Preparing quality foods and beverages for customers, in a timely manner and following set recipes and procedures
  • Checking product stock levels to ensure consistent availability. Communicating low stock levels to the manager or a supervisor to address
  • Promptly receiving and packing away deliveries and consistently rotating product
  • General knowledge of store POS system and credit/debit machine
  • Working with your team to ensure daily tasks are completed each shift
  • Immediately reporting all maintenance and operational concerns to the store leadership team
  • Handling cash responsibly
  • Other duties assigned by the store or senior leadership teams

Qualifications


  • Previous customer service
  • Experience of food preparation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Barista experience (preferred) and/or willingness to attend training
  • Food Safe Level I (preferred but not required)
  • Serving it right (required)
  • All applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada
