Position Overview

Camp Walden is seeking hardworking, reliable, and motivated Maintenance Staff in two different categories to join our team. Maintenance Staff play a critical role in ensuring our camp property remains safe, clean, welcoming, and beautiful for campers, staff, and guests throughout the season.

These positions are ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, take pride in their work, and are willing to roll up their sleeves to help maintain a large and active camp property.

Responsibilities - General Maintenance Staff

General Maintenance Staff will assist with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Cutting grass and maintaining outdoor spaces
  • Picking up garbage and keeping the property clean and presentable
  • Painting buildings, structures, and equipment as required
  • Assisting with general repairs and maintenance projects
  • Moving equipment, furniture, and supplies around camp
  • Assisting with landscaping and groundskeeping projects
  • Reporting maintenance concerns and safety hazards to supervisors
  • Supporting the camp team with other duties as assigned

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Be comfortable performing physical labour outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Be dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
  • Work well independently and as part of a team
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean and organized environment
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and a willingness to learn
  • Previous maintenance, landscaping, construction, painting, or property maintenance experience is considered an asset but is not required

SALARY: MIN WAGE

Responsibilities - Higher Level Maintenance Staff

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing general carpentry, repairs, and construction projects
  • Assisting with plumbing repairs and maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and performing basic electrical work and repairs (within qualifications and regulations)
  • Maintaining and repairing camp equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems
  • Diagnosing maintenance issues and implementing practical solutions
  • Repairing and maintaining cabins, washrooms, program areas, staff housing, and common facilities
  • Assisting with renovations and property improvement projects
  • Responding to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs
  • Supporting the overall operation and appearance of the property

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Carpentry
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical repair and maintenance

Additional qualifications include:

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors
  • Experience using a wide variety of hand and power tools
  • Trade certification(s) are considered a strong asset but are not required
  • Valid driver's license preferred

SALARY: NEGOTIABLE (MUCH HIGHER THAN MIN WAGE)
