Full job description

Pharmacist, Full Time

Ready to escape the endless prescription assembly line and unattainable corporate quotas? Come practice pharmacy the way it was meant to be! Nicole’s Pharmacy is a vibrant, independent community pharmacy in St. Albert built on kindness, inclusion, and authentic care. We’re looking for a down-to-earth, full-scope APA Pharmacist who wants to trade corporate metrics for meaningful patient outcomes—including providing a safe, dedicated space for gender-affirming care.

You won’t be stranded on an island here. You’ll be supported by a stellar, tightly-knit team (1 Registered Technician and 2 Assistants) known for keeping workflow smooth and stress levels low. We take care of our community Monday to Friday (9:00 am – 6:00 pm) and Saturdays (10:00 am – 4:00 pm). No night shifts, no Sundays, and weekend shifts are split equitably—meaning you’ll currently only work 1 out of every 3 Saturdays. If you’re ready to practice to your full scope and actually have time to talk to your patients, we’d love to welcome you to the family.

Working at Nicole’s Pharmacy

Working at Nicole’s Pharmacy is about serving our communities and their families, safeguarding their health, and doing so from a place of love, respect, and consideration. We also know that we are nothing without our people and the families that support them. With excellent benefits, a commitment to work-life balance, and a positive, professional, and supportive work environment, let Nicole’s Pharmacy be the place where you choose to work.

Summary

Reporting directly to the Pharmacy Manager/Owner, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive pharmacy services to customers and medical practitioners. You will play a critical role in providing guidance and supervision to Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians as well as in achieving our Pharmacy’s overall business objectives. As a Full Time pharmacist, you will work 37.5 hours per week with hourly compensation based on previous experience in addition to a clinical services bonus.

What you will do

  • Provide pharmacy consulting services to patients regarding the safe and effective use of medications, awareness of drug interactions, and offer preventative healthcare services such as providing immunizations.
  • Diagnose and treat minor ailments, manage chronic illnesses, and screen for vaccine eligibility.
  • Provide clinical services such as care plans, follow-up services to eligible patients, medication reviews and health risk assessments, prescribing when appropriate within the guidelines set by the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
  • Assist in workflow and model best service practices to ensure our pharmacy delivers a distinctive patient and customer service experience.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure best-in-class patient care and create and maintain strong relationships through a multi-disciplinary, patient-centered approach to care.
  • Manage pharmacy operations in partnership with Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians to maintain stock, monitor inventory levels and expiry dates, and return expired drugs when applicable while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Remain in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy by completing yearly licensing requirements, including maintaining injection certifications.

How you will do it

  • Demonstrate adaptability and comfort with change as it relates to pharmacy practice and regulation, as well as the technologies and processes required to navigate an evolving pharmacy landscape.
  • Practice to the full extent of your expanded scope, ensuring that you provide the highest level of care.
  • Exhibit a keen attention to detail in all that you do.
  • Maintain a friendly demeanor and a caring nature in all interactions.
  • Communicate openly with your Pharmacy Manager about any challenges, questions, or concerns.
