Full job description

Part-Time | Evenings and weekends | 15–30 Hours/Week

Location: Tumble City Athletics Inc. – Burnaby, BC
Reports to: Management Team

Typical Shifts:
Weekdays: approximately 3:00–7:00 PM or 4:00–8:00 PM
Weekends: starting around 8:30 AM, with some longer shifts depending on programming, parties and events

About the Role

Tumble City Athletics Inc., Home of WestCoast Sport Cheer, is looking for an outgoing, energetic and highly personable team member to join our Burnaby facility.

This is a hands-on, all-in-one position combining sales, customer service, reception, registration support, gym assistance, cleaning and light administration.

This is not a sit-behind-the-desk reception job.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys talking to people, is comfortable starting conversations with families, can confidently explain our programs and help turn inquiries and trials into registrations, and is equally willing to jump in and clean a bathroom, tidy the lobby, help with an event or solve a problem when needed.

You will often be the first person a new family meets when they walk into Tumble City, so energy, warmth and excellent customer service are extremely important.

Our ideal candidate is VERY outgoing, approachable and confident, has excellent spoken and written English, enjoys working around children and families, and thrives in a busy environment where priorities can change quickly.

Sales, Enrolment & Customer Service

A major part of this position is helping families find the right program and creating an excellent experience from their first inquiry onward.

Responsibilities include:

  • Warmly greeting every athlete, parent and visitor entering the facility.
  • Starting conversations with new and existing families and making them feel comfortable and welcome.
  • Learning our programs well enough to confidently explain class options, schedules and registration processes.
  • Helping prospective families determine which program or class may be the best fit for their child.
  • Supporting inquiries, trials, assessments and registrations.
  • Following up with interested families and helping move prospective customers toward registration.
  • Promoting available classes, camps, events, parties and other Tumble City programs.
  • Identifying opportunities to help families participate in additional programs that genuinely fit their needs.
  • Answering phone, email and in-person inquiries professionally and enthusiastically.
  • Providing excellent customer service when handling questions, concerns or registration issues.
  • Creating a consistently warm, energetic and welcoming atmosphere at the front desk.

You do not need to be a pushy salesperson. We are looking for someone who is naturally comfortable talking to people, building relationships and helping families say “Yes, let’s sign up!”

Reception & Front Desk

  • Assist families with registrations, account questions and general program information.
  • Support athlete check-in and attendance when required.
  • Keep the front desk organized and prepared for daily programming.
  • Communicate important information between families, coaches and management.
  • Monitor the lobby and entrance areas during programming.
  • Help ensure athletes are safely connected with parents/guardians at arrival and dismissal.
  • Maintain professional, friendly communication even during busy periods.

Gym & Facility Support

Everyone on our team helps keep the facility clean, safe and ready for families.

This position includes regular cleaning and facility duties such as:

  • Cleaning and checking bathrooms.
  • Sweeping, vacuuming and mopping floors.
  • Wiping down lobby, viewing and high-touch areas.
  • Keeping entrances, cubbies, seating areas and front desk spaces tidy.
  • Taking out garbage and recycling.
  • Restocking supplies.
  • Completing basic opening and closing tasks.
  • Helping maintain a clean, professional and welcoming facility throughout the shift — not just at the end of the day.

You must be comfortable with cleaning being a regular part of this position.

Gym Assistant & Event Support

  • Help coaches and management with class transitions and athlete flow.
  • Assist with birthday parties, camps, Open Houses, special events and other gym activities.
  • Help prepare spaces before events and clean/reset them afterward.
  • Monitor lobby activity and help maintain a positive and safe environment.
  • Jump in where needed when the gym is busy.

Administrative Support

Depending on experience and ability, duties may also include:

  • Data entry and updating customer information.
  • Maintaining organized digital and front-office systems.
  • Drafting or editing basic emails, notices and customer communications.
  • Updating program information and registration details.
  • Assisting management with small administrative projects.
  • Using Google Workspace and our registration/scheduling software.
  • Additional administrative, bookkeeping or operational responsibilities as the role grows.

Who We're Looking For

This role is a great fit for someone who is:

  • Extremely friendly, outgoing and comfortable approaching people.
  • Confident speaking with parents, children and prospective customers.
  • Naturally sales-minded and enjoys helping people make decisions.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
  • Energetic and able to stay productive without constantly being told what to do next.
  • Comfortable switching between customer service, sales, cleaning and administrative tasks during the same shift.
  • Organized and attentive to details.
  • Calm and professional when things get busy.
  • Comfortable working in an active environment with children.
  • A strong communicator with excellent spoken and written English.
  • Comfortable answering phones and providing professional customer service.
  • Confident using computers and able to learn new software quickly.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in customer service, sales, reception, retail, hospitality, recreation or a similar public-facing role is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with children, families, sports or recreation programs is an asset.
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Experience with Google Workspace is preferred.
  • Must be comfortable performing regular cleaning duties.
  • Must be available for a consistent Friday–Monday schedule, including weekends.
  • Must be able to work independently while also being part of a larger team.

What We Offer

  • A fun, active and community-focused work environment.
  • A role with variety — your entire shift won't be spent sitting behind a desk.
  • Opportunities to take on additional administrative, sales, bookkeeping or operational responsibilities as you grow with us.
  • Free or discounted access to select Tumble City programs for yourself or eligible family members.
  • The opportunity to become an important part of a growing organization.
  • A team focused on creating a welcoming environment for athletes and families while building Strong People and Forever Family.

Before You Apply

Please consider whether this sounds like you:

You see a new family walk through the door and your instinct is to smile, introduce yourself and find out how you can help.

You notice the bathroom needs attention, so you take care of it.

The phone rings while the lobby is busy, and you can confidently prioritize and keep things moving.

A parent is interested in a program but isn't sure which class to choose, and you're excited to help them find the right fit and get registered.

If that sounds like your kind of workday, we'd love to hear from you.
