Full job description

Turn Data Into Smarter Business Decisions.

At Spectra, we’re committed to delivering high-quality aluminum products through innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. As a growing Canadian manufacturer with five facilities across Ontario, we’re looking for a curious and analytical Purchasing & Financial Analyst to join our team.

This is a newly created role that combines corporate-wide purchasing analysis with general accounting responsibilities. You’ll examine how products and services are purchased across our facilities, uncover cost-saving opportunities and help us make more informed purchasing decisions. You’ll also support key accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and month-end activities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, investigating inconsistencies and digging into the “why” behind the numbers. You won’t simply process transactions, you’ll use the information within them to identify practical opportunities to improve the business.

What You’ll Do

Purchasing Analysis and Optimization

  • Analyze purchasing activity across our five manufacturing facilities to identify trends, anomalies, price discrepancies and potential savings opportunities.
  • Review purchasing patterns and identify opportunities to consolidate volumes and leverage the company’s overall buying power.
  • Compare supplier pricing, terms, service levels, lead times and purchasing volumes.
  • Identify products being purchased from different suppliers across facilities and evaluate opportunities for standardization.
  • Investigate significant changes in purchasing volumes, consumption or pricing to understand the underlying cause.
  • Partner cross-functionally to understand purchasing requirements and supplier decisions.
  • Identify opportunities for corporate pricing agreements, volume discounts, improved payment terms and other supplier benefits.
  • Develop reports and KPIs to track purchasing activity, pricing, supplier performance, savings initiatives and preferred-supplier compliance.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining preferred supplier lists and corporate purchasing standards.
  • Support improvements to purchasing processes, systems and internal controls.
  • Help implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality, safety, reliability or operational requirements.

Accounting and Finance Support

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Reconcile vendor and customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Review invoices, purchase orders, receiving records and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with account reconciliations and month-end activities.
  • Maintain accurate financial and purchasing records.
  • Prepare reports and analysis for management.
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the Finance team as required.

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
  • Experience in accounting, purchasing, procurement, financial analysis or another analytical business role.
  • Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail, along with the ability to understand broader business objectives.
  • The confidence and curiosity to question inconsistencies and investigate their causes.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with employees across multiple departments and facilities.
  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems and analyzing purchasing or transactional data is an asset.
  • Manufacturing experience is a strong asset.

What Will Help You Succeed

You’re naturally curious and don’t stop at what the numbers show, you want to understand what’s driving them.

You’re comfortable asking questions like:

  • Why did our consumption of this item increase?
  • Why are multiple facilities buying the same product from different suppliers?
  • Why are we paying different prices for the same item?
  • Could we consolidate this spend and negotiate better pricing?
  • Is there a better supplier or purchasing arrangement available?

You’re organized, detail-oriented and comfortable balancing analytical project work with day-to-day accounting responsibilities. Most importantly, you’re motivated by the opportunity to take ownership of a new initiative and make a measurable impact across the organization.

Why Join Spectra?

At Spectra, you’ll join a collaborative Finance team where you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful work that directly impacts the business. We believe in developing our people, encouraging new ideas and providing opportunities to grow alongside our organization.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to take ownership of a newly created role with company-wide visibility.
  • Exposure to both purchasing analysis and core accounting functions.
  • Opportunities to work with teams across multiple manufacturing facilities and departments.
  • The ability to directly influence purchasing efficiency, supplier performance and cost-saving initiatives.
  • A collaborative environment where your ideas are valued and your contributions make a difference.
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
  • Ongoing learning, development and career growth opportunities.
  • The opportunity to help shape purchasing practices within a growing Canadian manufacturer.

If you’re looking for a role where you can use data to solve problems, improve business performance and make a measurable impact across the organization, we’d love to hear from you.

Vacancy Status: This posting is for newly-created role.

Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
