Full job description
A role with purpose, connection, and opportunity to make a difference.
We are looking for someone genuine, caring, energetic, and dependable to join a family-led support team working alongside an incredible individual with autism.
This is not simply a job—it is an opportunity to become an important part of a team and build a meaningful, long-term relationship. We are looking for someone who wants to invest in the role, grow professionally, and genuinely enjoy the person and experiences they are supporting.
The ideal candidate is naturally positive, creative, and willing to jump in. You might spend one day swimming or playing tennis, another exploring the community, and another cooking, creating art, playing sports, or enjoying a movie. The goal is to make everyday life engaging, purposeful, and fun while helping build greater confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.
What You'll Be Doing
Your role will primarily involve one-on-one support in the community and at home, with a focus on creating opportunities for learning, participation, and independence.
Activities may include:
- Cooking, baking, and creative food projects
- Arts, crafts, and hands-on activities
- Basketball, soccer, football, tennis, and other sports
- Running and outdoor recreation
- Swimming
- Photography and community outings
- Supporting life skills and continued learning
- Exploring job-sampling opportunities
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and community involvement
You will also help with planning and organizing activities, preparing materials, and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the support team.
Who We Hope You'll Be
Most importantly, we are looking for the right person—someone who is kind, authentic, patient, and genuinely enjoys being around people.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Bring energy, positivity, and enthusiasm to your work
- Enjoy being active and trying new things
- Are creative and love hands-on activities
- Take initiative and are comfortable leading activities
- Build relationships naturally and respectfully
- Are dependable and organized
- Believe in the potential of neurodiverse individuals
- Want to make a lasting, meaningful difference
Experience as an Education Assistant, Early Childhood Educator, teacher, recreation professional, behaviour interventionist, or in another related support role is an asset.
Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of experience supporting youth with autism or developmental disabilities, whether through professional experience or relevant personal experience.
Be Part of a Strong Support Team
You will work as part of a welcoming, collaborative, family-led team, alongside family members and experienced support professionals.
Ongoing mentorship is provided by experienced support staff and Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). We are committed to helping our team members develop through hands-on training, continuing education, mentorship, and professional development.
This Is a Long-Term Commitment
Consistency is extremely important in this role. We are looking for someone who wants to become a trusted and valued member of the team.
A minimum two-year commitment is required.
This position is best suited to someone looking for more than a short-term job and who is excited about building a lasting relationship with the individual and family.
Availability
We are hiring full-time and part-time team members.
Full-time availability is preferred, although we will consider part-time applicants who are an excellent fit.
Evening, weekend, and some overnight availability is required. The ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and overnight shifts is an important part of the role.
Qualifications
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence required
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C preferred
