Crew Electrician

Permanent, Full-time

Kelowna, BC

Shift Energy Group is hiring a Crew Electrician to join our Field Crew team in Kelowna, BC. This role is designed for an experienced, licensed electrician who’s ready to be a hands-on leader — someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their work, and knows how to guide a team from job start to closeout.

We're a leader in designing and building solar and energy storage projects across Canada. We work on residential, commercial, off-grid, and on-grid projects, offering comprehensive solar and energy storage solutions tailored to diverse energy needs.

Headquartered in Victoria, BC, we operate in five provinces: British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Our mission is to deliver exceptional, sustainable energy solutions that drive positive change and move the industry forward.

About the Role:

As a Crew Electrician, you’ll be responsible for the hands-on installation of solar PV systems, electrical interconnections, and equipment commissioning. This role is pivotal in installing electrical systems, solar racking, and interconnecting our residential and commercial solar PV systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing solar PV systems and equipment (e.g., inverters, racking systems, batteries, charge controllers).
  • Conducting electrical wiring, commissioning, and testing of solar PV systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Ensuring adherence to electrical and safety standards while promptly addressing technical issues.
  • Collaborating closely with the Field Manager and team members to ensure timely project completion.
  • Assisting senior electricians in troubleshooting and repairing solar PV systems when necessary.
  • Operating tools and equipment (such as drills, saws, and ladders) to complete installation tasks.
  • Maintaining a safe and productive work environment by strictly following safety standards and building codes.
  • Leading a crew consisting of three individuals, including apprentices and solar installers.
  • Keep accurate records of material used and proper documentation on work orders relating to the installation.

What We’re Looking For

  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician with several years of field experience; residential experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and jobsite safety practices
  • Ability to communicate professionally with homeowners, businesses, and other trades on-site
  • Self-motivated, solutions-focused, and accountable
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driving record

Working Conditions Include

  • Outdoor Field work occurs in diverse weather conditions and normal hazards associated with construction sites.
  • Climbing, working at heights, and/or working within confined spaces.
  • The ability to safely handle tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc.
  • Performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.

We Offer

  • Competitive wage: $40-45/hr based on experience
  • Extended health, dental, and wellness benefits
  • RRSP matching, paid time off and opportunities for professional development
  • Company vehicle, phone, and per diem for travel
  • Regular training and certifications (Fall Protection, WHMIS, etc.)
  • An inclusive and forward-thinking team culture with annual team building events and activities

Details

  • Location: Kelowna, BC
  • Hours: 40 hours/week, with flexibility depending on project needs
  • Occasional travel and out-of-town work may be required
