Website Manager Job Description

Status: Permanent, Full‑Time
Reports to: President
Location: Delhi, Ontario
Salary: $90000 – $110,000 (commensurate with experience)

Working Hours and Expectations

Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. This is a full‑time, salaried role. Employees are expected to be consistently available during core business hours and to devote the time necessary to meet their commitments.

We do not define leadership by hours worked, but by results achieved, people developed, and values upheld. The role may require additional flexibility during peak periods, balanced by sound judgment and long‑term sustainability.

This position is best suited to individuals who take ownership of their responsibilities, manage their time with discipline, and take pride in following through.

About Bluestreak Equipment Inc.

Founded in 2005, Bluestreak Equipment Inc. is a small but growing manufacturer of magnetic, mechanical, and sensor‑based sorting and cleaning solutions. We design, manufacture, and sell a broad range of high‑quality, well‑engineered premium products to customers around the world across many industries.

We focus on doing things properly. We are not trying to be flashy or trendy — we are building a company that lasts by earning trust, delivering consistent quality, and continuously improving how we operate.

Our culture is based on high customer service, personal responsibility, and long‑term thinking. We hire self‑motivated people, give them room to act, and expect them to fully own their work and results.

About the Position

The Website Manager works closely with the Marketing Manager and has responsibility for a broad range of web development activities. Some responsibilities are owned directly by this role, while others are shared — this is a team environment where trust, accountability, and reliability matter. In broad terms the Website Manager is responsible for the technical development and functioning of the website while the Marketing Manager is responsible for the overall content and business results of the website.

The Website Manager works with and manages the work of full-time inhouse website developers (1 currently) to address the needs and objectives of the Marketing Manager and President related to the website and to ensure the highest standard of technical functioning of the website.

This role offers meaningful variety and responsibility. You will manage a global e‑commerce, multilingual and multi‑currency Wordpress/Woocommerce website with 1500 products, 300 content pages, and 82 plugins. The Website Manager needs to have knowledge of WordPress/Woocommerce action hooks and filters because 16 of the 82 plugins are custom manipulations of the remaining 66 plugins. This successful applicant should also have knowledge and experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, mySQL, PHP) stack web hosting to be able to debug and communicate hosting adjustment requests to Cloudways.com our managed web hosting provider.

We are seeking a high-level Full Stack Developer who lives and breathes the "WordPress Way." This isn't a role for a page-builder enthusiast; it is a position for a Code-First Software Engineer who specializes in deep-level customization of the WordPress and WooCommerce ecosystems.

The ideal candidate understands that the true power of WordPress lies in its Hooks and Filters. You should be comfortable diving into core files to understand logic, only to then write elegant, non-destructive custom plugins that manipulate that logic to meet complex business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Custom Development: Build bespoke, high-performance WordPress themes and plugins from the ground up using PHP.

Logic Manipulation: Use Action Hooks and Filters to extend or modify the behavior of WordPress core, WooCommerce, and third-party plugins without modifying their source code.

WooCommerce Optimization: Programmatically customize the checkout flow, cart logic, product data structures, and payment gateway integrations.

Full Stack Ownership: Manage the entire development lifecycle, from database schema design (MySQL) to responsive front-end implementation (JS/CSS).

Environment Management: Maintain and optimize the site within a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) hosting environment.

Technical Requirements

PHP Mastery: Deep proficiency in PHP (8.x) with a strong grasp of object -oriented programming and security best practices.

WordPress Internals: Expert-level knowledge of the WordPress hook system, template hierarchy, and the WP_Query class.

WooCommerce Expertise: Proven experience developing custom code for WooCommerce, specifically utilizing its extensive library of actions and filters.

Front-End Fundamentals: Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (Sass/LESS), and JavaScript (Vanilla, jQuery, or modern frameworks).

Database & Hosting: Solid understanding of MySQL and comfort working within a LAMP stack (CLI, SSH, and server configuration).

What Success Looks Like

  • The website is always up and running, site speed is very good, code is clean, future proof and well documented.
  • Marketing content additions, changes and edits are getting done in reasonable times
  • You are trusted internally as someone who follows through and improves what they touch

Who Will Thrive in This Role

This role is a good fit for someone who:

  • Takes responsibility for outcomes, not just assigned tasks
  • Works well with ambiguity, complexity and enjoys building systems that last
  • Thinks long‑term and values steady progress over quick wins
  • Is naturally curious and motivated to deeply understand
  • Is motivated by achievement
  • Does not require close supervision to maintain momentum and standards

Who This Role Is NOT For

This role is likely not a good fit if you:

  • Prefer narrowly defined duties and frequent direction
  • Are primarily motivated by title, bonuses, or rapid promotion
  • View separate departments as separate silos rather than as a connected system
  • Are uncomfortable being accountable for results you influence but do not fully control

A Final Note

We believe the best companies are built over decades, not quarters. This role is designed for someone who wants to contribute meaningfully, develop judgment over time, and be proud of the systems, relationships, and results they help build.

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Dental care
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
