Full job description

We are looking for a Junior Full Stack WordPress Developer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong foundation in WordPress development, the LAMP stack, and SEO best practices, and is looking to continue growing their skills while working alongside experienced developers and senior engineers.

The successful candidate will assist with the development, maintenance, and optimization of WordPress websites and related web applications. They will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to implement features, troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and support websites that are secure, scalable, and optimized for both users and search engines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, customizing, and maintaining WordPress themes and plugins
  • Build and support custom website functionality using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Help manage and maintain websites hosted in a LAMP environment
  • Work closely with senior engineers to implement new features, enhancements, and bug fixes
  • Support website optimization for performance, responsiveness, and SEO
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WordPress, plugins, themes, databases, and server configurations
  • Assist with website updates, backups, migrations, and deployments
  • Help integrate third-party APIs, tools, and services into WordPress sites
  • Test websites across browsers, devices, and environments
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-documented code
  • Participate in team discussions, code reviews, and ongoing learning opportunities

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a WordPress Developer or Full Stack Developer
  • Strong knowledge of WordPress core, theme development, and plugin development
  • Strong experience with the LAMP stack (MUST HAVE):
  • Linux
  • Apache
  • MySQL
  • PHP
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery
  • Experience with custom post types, ACF, page templates, and WordPress hooks/actions/filters
  • Strong understanding of MySQL databases, queries, and optimization
  • Experience with Git/version control
  • Familiarity with website migrations, staging environments, and deployment workflows
  • Understanding of website security, performance optimization, and caching
  • Ability to troubleshoot both frontend and backend issues
  • Strong knowledge of SEO best practices, including on-page SEO, technical SEO fundamentals, site structure, metadata, page speed considerations, and search-friendly content implementation

Must Have

  • Experience with WooCommerce or other e-commerce platforms
  • Familiarity with REST APIs
  • Knowledge of Cloudflare, CDN setup, and DNS management
  • Experience with PHP frameworks or modern build tools
  • Deep Understanding of technical SEO best practices
  • Experience working with hosting platforms like DigitalOcean, cPanel, or managed WordPress hosting
  • Familiarity with Docker or local development environments

Education

  • Diploma, degree, or formal training in Computer Science, Web Development, Software Development, or a related field is preferred
  • Equivalent practical experience, hands-on development work, or a strong portfolio will also be considered
