Psychotherapist / Social Worker (Oakville)

Independent Contractor | Approximately 15 hours/week

About First Step Men’s Therapy

First Step Men’s Therapy (FSMT) is a growing Ontario-based psychotherapy practice dedicated to helping men and couples reconnect with themselves and others in a safe, supportive, and grounded environment.

We specialize in areas that are often underserved in traditional settings, including:

  • Compulsive sexual behaviour and pornography use
  • Substance misuse and addictive patterns
  • Trauma and shame-based narratives
  • Relationship and intimacy concerns
  • Anxiety, grief, and sexual dysfunction

BeginningAugust 2026, FSMT will be opening its fifth office location in Oakville. As such, this role will allow you to be the face of FSMT in the Oakville area.

This role is primarily in-person, with opportunities for hybrid virtual work if necessary.

Who You Are

You are a grounded, relational, and emotionally intelligent therapist who values both clinical autonomy and collaboration. You are comfortable supporting men navigating trauma, addiction, intimacy concerns, shame, anxiety, grief, and relationship difficulties.

You bring professionalism, consistency, and strong clinical judgment to your work. You value feedback, accountability, and ongoing growth, and you appreciate being part of a team environment where therapists support one another while maintaining independence in their clinical approach.

We are especially interested in therapists who:

  • Have experience or training in couples therapy
  • Are comfortable working with addiction, trauma, and intimacy-related concerns
  • Can offer evening and/or weekend availability
  • Intentionally use Safe and Effective Use of Self (SEUS) in their work
  • Value structure, communication, and collaboration
  • Are seeking long-term professional growth within a group practice setting

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
  • Registration in good standing with CRPO (RP – Independent Practice) or OCSWSSW (RSW). RP Qualifing close to RP status will also be considered.
  • Availability for a minimum of two evening shifts per week (approximately 10-15 hours/week)
  • Ability to maintain consistent in-person availability and timely clinical documentation
  • Professional liability insurance
  • Comfort with electronic charting and common technology platforms (JaneApp, Slack, Google Workspace)
  • Strong clinical boundaries, ethics, professionalism, and independent decision-making
