School Overview

Located on the scenic waterfront in North Vancouver, Bodwell High School is a university-preparatory independent day and boarding school for students in Grades 8-12. For more than 35 years, Bodwell has welcomed students from Canada and around the world into a vibrant, multicultural learning community.

Bodwell offers a rigorous academic program, strong student support, immersive boarding life, and a clear focus on university preparation. While we are known for our global community, we are also growing our local day and domestic boarding pathways for families and younger students in Metro Vancouver and across Canada.

Our staff need to be culturally-sensitive and demonstrate a high level of compassion and flexibility to work in an ethnically-diverse environment. To serve our students, we have a team of 6-8 school counsellors. We are searching for a school counsellor to join our team by mid-August, in time for our new student arrivals in late August.

The Primary Duties of the Counsellor are to:

  • provide academic guidance and university application assistance
  • offer social and emotional guidance for both local Canadian and international students
  • act as an intermediary between the school and parents
  • update student information on our database
  • collaborate with teachers, boarding advisors, coaches and administrators

The successful candidate must:

  • have superior professional written and oral communication skills in English
  • is well-connected in the North Shore and/or Metro Vancouver community
  • possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, education, counselling psychology, educational counselling, education, or other relevant disciplines
  • be able to work professionally, independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • illustrate values such as kindness, empathy and honesty
  • have a passion for working with youth and exhibit excellent communication skills
  • be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

It would be an asset if the candidate:

  • is familiar with the BC K-12 system, IB MYP, and Advanced Placement curriculum, and university pathways
  • has had experience working with high school students, or other youth services, particularly at the younger grades (e.g. 6-9)
  • has interest and knowledge in Bodwell's emerging specialized areas, including STEM, media, and sport science education
  • possesses skills with AI platforms and tools.

The deadline for applications is July 17, 2026. Interested candidates should email a complete resume, cover letter (describing your motivation to apply, personal strengths, and experience with adolescents), and three professional references to jobs@bodwell.edu, with a subject line of “School Counsellor”.

**Only shortlisted applicants meeting the above requirements will be contacted. Candidates must be already eligible to work in Canada and must reside near Vancouver. Out of province applicants will not be considered.**
