SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The Hoarding Specialist provides individualized support to individuals whose accumulation of belongings and difficulty discarding possessions creates barriers to maintaining safe, functional, and healthy living environments. Working from a client-centered approach, this role helps individuals address the practical and emotional challenges associated with hoarding behaviours while promoting dignity, choice, and long-term success. The Hoarding Specialist collaborates with staff, community partners, and clients to increase awareness and understanding of hoarding, including its effects on mental health, physical safety, and overall quality of life. The role advocates for client needs, provides education and guidance, and supports the development of effective intervention strategies. The primary objective of this position is to empower clients to achieve greater independence by helping them maintain safe home environments, strengthen daily living skills, and access appropriate community resources and supports that enhance their overall well-being.
