JOB DESCRIPTION

Nature of the Work & Responsibilities
NATURE OF THE WORK:
The principal and customary work of the employee in this employment class consists in assisting the teaching personnel in the preparation, presentation, and supervision of laboratory work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare, organize, and maintain laboratory and simulation environments for instructional activities.
Support faculty and students during lab sessions, simulations, and skills-based learning experiences.
Assist with the supervision and demonstration of clinical and technical skill development.
Coordinate and support laboratory scheduling, student access, and utilization of learning resources.
Ensure laboratory spaces, equipment, and supplies are maintained, operational, and ready for use.
Manage inventory, monitor supply levels, and assist with procurement of equipment and materials.
Research and recommend new equipment, resources, and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and external organizations regarding equipment, materials, and services.
Provide technical support related to simulation activities and educational resources.
Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and organized learning environment.
Assist with special events, demonstrations, orientations, open houses, and other departmental initiatives.
Perform related duties that support nursing education, clinical skills development, and laboratory operations.
Meets with teaching teams as necessary
Performs other related tasks as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications & Conditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
To have a diploma of college studies (DEC) in an appropriate specialty or a diploma or an attestation of studies which is recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
CONDITIONS:
Proven knowledge of medical/surgical skills and procedures
Proven knowledge of clinical setting
Proven organizational skills
Knowledge of computer-based laboratory equipment
Basic skills in Microsoft Word (testing may be required)
Advanced English oral and written communication skills (testing may be required)
Intermediate French oral and written communication skills (testing may be required)
Membership with either the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers auxiliaires du Québec (OIIAQ) or the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) or equivalent professional order from another Canadian province, an asset
