Help Shape the Future of Healthy Aging

The SageWell Association is an innovative, growing non-profit organization dedicated to helping adults aged 55+ live well, stay connected, and age independently. Through engaging recreation, wellness, educational, fitness, volunteer, and social programs, we create meaningful opportunities that improve quality of life and strengthen communities.

As our organization continues to grow, we’re looking for an energetic, organized, and technology-savvy Program Facilitator who enjoys working with people, embraces new ideas, and wants to make a real difference every day.

If you’re someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, is comfortable using technology, and takes pride in creating exceptional experiences for others, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

This is far more than simply running programs.

As a Program Facilitator, you’ll be a key member of our team—building relationships with participants, helping deliver innovative programs, supporting community events, using technology to keep operations running smoothly, and contributing ideas that help SageWell continue to grow.

Every day is different, and you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of older adults across Halifax Regional Municipality.

Regular Schedule

  • Monday mornings – Halifax
  • Wednesdays – Halifax (full day)
  • Thursdays – Sambro (full day)
  • One Saturday morning per month

Occasional evenings and weekends are required for special events, fundraising activities, and community initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver engaging recreational, educational, wellness, fitness, and social programs.
  • Create welcoming, inclusive, and positive experiences for participants.
  • Set up and dismantle program spaces, including tables, chairs, audiovisual equipment, refreshments, and supplies.
  • Prepare materials and equipment for successful program delivery.
  • Encourage participation and build positive relationships with members and volunteers.
  • Maintain attendance records and assist with program reporting and evaluation.
  • Use Microsoft Office, email, databases, and digital tools to support daily operations.
  • Assist with scheduling, record keeping, document preparation, inventory tracking, and administrative support.
  • Support fundraising events, community outreach initiatives, and promotional activities.
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, instructors, and community partners.
  • Identify opportunities to improve programs and contribute ideas that help our organization grow.
  • Represent SageWell professionally throughout the community.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about improving the lives of older adults.
  • Friendly, confident, and naturally engaging with people.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently.
  • Adaptable and excited to learn new skills and technologies.
  • A confident computer user who enjoys working with digital tools and technology.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and other online platforms.
  • Comfortable learning new software, databases, and digital communication tools.
  • An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creative, resourceful, and proactive when solving problems.
  • Someone who enjoys contributing ideas and being an active member of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with older adults, community organizations, recreation, customer service, education, or related fields is considered an asset.
  • Experience with administration, scheduling, record keeping, event coordination, or office support.
  • Experience with fundraising, donor relations, sponsorships, or community engagement is an asset.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence.
  • Reliable vehicle with the ability to travel regularly between Halifax and Sambro.
  • Ability to lift and move program equipment (up to approximately 40 lbs.).
  • Successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.

What We Offer

  • Competitive wage of $19.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience.
  • Consistent permanent part-time schedule (20 hours weekly).
  • Two weeks paid vacation.
  • Five paid sick days.
  • A supportive, collaborative workplace where your ideas matter.
  • Meaningful work that has a direct impact on older adults throughout our community.
  • Opportunities to develop new skills, take on new challenges, and contribute to an organization that continues to grow and innovate.

Why Join SageWell?

At SageWell, we’re building something special. We’re looking for team members who want more than just a part-time job—we’re looking for people who want to contribute, grow, bring fresh ideas, embrace technology, and help us create exceptional experiences for older adults.

If you’re enthusiastic, computer-savvy, community-minded, and ready to make a difference, we’d love to meet you.
