Full job description

Job Title: Program Coordinator

Location: Strathcona Place Society, Edmonton, Alberta

Position Type: Part-Time (25 - 35 hrs/week starting at 9 am)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Contract Length: Temporary 6 month contract with potential to renew based on funding

Pay: $20-22/hr based on qualifications and experience

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, Business Hours are Monday to Friday 9 am till 4 pm, closed on stat holidays and Christmas holiday

About the Role

Strathcona Place Society is a non-profit senior centre in Edmonton serving adults 55+ through recreation, fitness, social programs, and community outreach. This is a combined program and administrative role: Programs maintains our existing program schedule and instructor relationships, runs our four signature annual events, and serves as the front-line administrative contact for members and visitors at the centre while Administration runs the front desk reception handling phone calls, data entry, marketing and front of house office duties.

Key Responsibilities

Programs

Maintain and update the three seasonal program guides and class schedules

Serve as the main point of contact for instructors — scheduling, communication, and day-to-day issue resolution

Set up classes and coordinate space and equipment needs with the Building Services Worker

Track attendance and registration, and flag any issues affecting program continuity

Plan and run the Society's four annual events:

Spring Fling Fundraiser

Canada Day

Fall Marketplace

Christmas Singalong

Promote programs, events, and membership through social media (e.g., Facebook), the Senior Connection blog, posters, and newsletters

Distribute biweekly newsletter updates

Prepare reports on program attendance, event outcomes, and related statistics

Administration

Answer phones, respond to emails, and greet members and visitors

Direct members and visitors to the appropriate department or service (classes, fitness, art, outreach, tax clinic, etc.)

Assist with scheduling and registration for programs and events

Perform data entry and maintain accurate records

Design and produce flyers and other promotional materials

Draft and send correspondence

Maintain physical and digital filing systems

Track and order office supplies as needed

Support volunteer coordination and onboarding

Provide general administrative support as assigned

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, instructor relationships, and front-desk duties at once

Comfortable coordinating small- to mid-size events (fundraisers, community celebrations)

Proficient in Google Workspace

Comfortable working with seniors in a friendly, professional manner, with enough knowledge of the centre's departments to direct people appropriately

Reliable, able to work independently and as part of a team

Non-profit experience an asset

Front-desk or administrative experience an asset
