We are seeking a Spanish-speaking, experienced Mechanical Designer to support new product development and continuous improvement of existing products.

This role is responsible for full-cycle design and engineering—from concept through production—while working closely with OEM customers, internal teams, and suppliers.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Designer develops new products and improves existing ones through design, research, prototyping, testing, and process optimization. The role requires direct interaction with OEM engineers, customers, and internal teams to resolve technical challenges and enhance product performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new products on time and within budget, aligned with company development plans
  • Support the full lifecycle of R&D projects: concept, design, prototyping, tooling, production ramp-up, and customer installation

  • Perform value engineering to reduce costs and improve efficiency:
  • Identify key cost drivers (labor and materials)
  • Analyze high-volume products for optimization opportunities
  • Redesign components or systems to reduce cost and improve performance
  • Analyze customer specifications and design proposals to develop practical engineering solutions
  • Implement product improvements and follow up with customers to ensure resolution
  • Participate in prototype builds and design reviews to resolve issues during ramp-up
  • Monitor production results and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Support supplier selection, including materials and contract manufacturers
  • Lead change control processes involving design, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Maintain engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, specifications, work instructions, etc.)
  • Provide technical support to customers remotely and on-site
  • Travel within North America and internationally as required

Required Skills

  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (AutoCAD experience is an asset)
  • 2–4 years of practical experience in mechanical design or a related field
  • Experience designing molded plastic parts, sheet metal, and metal extrusions
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and systems
  • Ability to present technical information clearly to customers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving ability and technical initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with shading systems, sliding doors, or similar products
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015; familiarity with IATF 16949 is an asset
  • Experience with 3D printing and prototyping tools
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering documentation control
