Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tailor to join our fashion retail team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for garment construction and customer service, with the ability to create and alter clothing to meet client specifications. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where craftsmanship and customer satisfaction are valued. The role involves working with sewing machines, understanding fabric and design, and providing personalized fitting services to our customers.

Duties

  • Alter and adjust garments for proper fit, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing
  • Construct new garments based on customer requests or design specifications
  • Operate sewing machines efficiently and safely to complete alterations and creations
  • Assist customers by providing expert advice on fabric choices, styles, and fit options
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery of tailored items
  • Keep detailed records of alterations and custom orders for future reference

Experience

  • Previous experience in fashion retail or tailoring is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
  • Proficiency in sewing machine operation and garment construction techniques
  • Strong sewing skills with attention to detail and quality craftsmanship
  • Basic math skills for measurements, pattern adjustments, and calculations related to garment fitting
  • Knowledge of fabric types, sewing techniques, and garment fitting standards is a plus
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients of diverse backgrounds
