Service Manager – Emergency Vehicle Operations

Safetek Profire | Mississauga, Ontario

$80,000 - $100,000 | Performance Bonus | Benefits | Retirement Savings

Lead. Build. Grow. Help keep Ontario's firefighters ready to respond.

Most people spend their careers keeping businesses running.

You'll spend yours helping keep communities safe.

Every day across Ontario, firefighters climb into fire trucks and emergency vehicles expecting them to perform when they're needed most.

Behind that readiness is a team of skilled technicians and service professionals making sure those vehicles are safe, reliable and ready to respond.

That team needs a leader.

We're looking for an experienced Service Manager who wants the rare opportunity to build a service operation in an industry that matters.

Someone who knows how to lead technicians, take care of customers, improve workflow, drive performance and build a team people are proud to be part of.

You don't need fire apparatus experience.

You do need to know how to lead a great service operation.

Welcome to Safetek Profire

We're a proudly Canadian, family-owned company with more than 30 years of history serving Canada's fire service.

Our mission is simple:

Serving Those Who Keep Our Communities Safe.

We provide fire apparatus, emergency vehicle service, parts, training and technical support to fire departments across Canada.

When an emergency vehicle is out of service, it matters. When a repair isn't completed properly, it matters. When a customer needs an answer, it matters.

That's why Service is such an important part of our business.

And why we're looking for the right person to lead it in Ontario.

The Service Operation You'll Lead

Reporting to our Regional Manager, Ontario, you'll lead Safetek Profire's Ontario Service operation from our Mississauga facility, with responsibility for the people, performance and customer experience of the department.

This is a hands-on operational leadership role.

Your team supports some of the most sophisticated emergency vehicles on the road. Your job is to make sure they have the leadership, systems, parts, information and support they need to do exceptional work.

You'll own the things great Service Managers care about:

People. Customers. Quality. Productivity. Workflow. Profitability. Continuous improvement.

You'll lead technicians and service support staff, work closely with Parts and Sales, build relationships with fire departments and fleet managers, and help us grow our Ontario service business.

You won't be inheriting a finished operation.

You'll be helping us build the next version of it.

What You'll Own

Your Team

Lead, coach and develop our Ontario service team.

Set clear expectations. Create accountability. Recognise great performance. Have the difficult conversations when they're needed.

Build an environment where good people can do their best work.

The Operation

Own scheduling, workflow, technician productivity, turnaround times and day-to-day execution.

Identify bottlenecks, solve problems and continuously improve how work moves through the shop.

The goal isn't simply to stay busy.

It's to get the right work done, properly and efficiently.

Our Customers

Build trusted relationships with firefighters, Fire Chiefs, fleet managers and municipal customers.

Communicate proactively, resolve issues and make sure customers know where things stand.

When something goes wrong, we don't hide from it.

We own it and make it right.

Quality

Set and maintain high standards for workmanship and quality.

Repairs need to be completed safely, properly and right the first time.

Reduce rework, identify recurring issues and ensure schedule pressure never becomes an excuse for compromising quality.

Performance

Understand and own the numbers behind the operation.

Labour recovery. Technician efficiency and utilisation. Work-order cycle time. Rework. Customer satisfaction. Departmental profitability.

Use data to make decisions, identify opportunities and continuously improve performance.

Growth

We're growing our presence in Ontario, and Service is an important part of that future.

You'll help strengthen our capabilities, develop our people, improve our systems and build an operation that can scale as the business grows.

We're not looking for someone to preserve the status quo.

We're looking for someone who wants to make it better.

Collaboration

Great service doesn't happen in a silo.

You'll work closely with Parts, Sales, Warranty, Manufacturing and our OEM partners to solve problems and deliver the experience our customers expect.

We succeed as one team.

You Probably Haven't Worked in Our Industry

That's okay.

Fire apparatus is a specialised industry, and many outstanding Service Managers have never considered it as a career opportunity.

Maybe you're currently leading a service operation in:

  • Heavy trucks
  • Heavy or construction equipment
  • Automotive
  • Municipal fleet
  • Transit
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Industrial equipment
  • Commercial vehicles

If you understand technicians, customers, workflow, quality and the realities of running a busy service operation, we want to talk to you.

You'll Probably Recognise Yourself Here

You've successfully led technicians and understand the realities of running a busy service operation.

You know that great service requires balancing customers, people, productivity, quality and profitability, often all at the same time.

You're comfortable on the shop floor, but equally comfortable sitting across the table from a Fire Chief, fleet manager or municipal customer.

You use numbers to make decisions, address problems early and don't walk past things that aren't right.

You communicate clearly, make decisions and follow through.

Most importantly, your team would describe you as fair, accountable, approachable and someone they can trust.

What We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of service leadership experience in a dealership, heavy-duty, automotive, equipment, fleet or similar technical service environment
  • Experience leading and developing technicians and service teams
  • Strong operational and organisational skills
  • Experience managing KPIs and service performance
  • Financial and commercial awareness
  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills
  • The confidence to make decisions and take ownership

A Red Seal or equivalent trade certification would be an asset.

Fire apparatus or emergency vehicle experience would also be an asset.

Neither is required for the right leader.

Why Safetek Profire?

We're large enough to invest in our people and our future, but small enough that leaders have a voice and can make a real difference.

We're Canadian.

Family-owned.

Growing.

And committed to building an exceptional service business in Ontario.

You'll be expected to bring ideas forward, challenge how things are done, make decisions and take ownership of making things better.

And you'll do it for a company with a purpose you can be proud of:

Serving Those Who Keep Our Communities Safe.

What You'll Receive

  • $80,000 - $100,000 annual salary
  • Performance-based incentive
  • Comprehensive health and dental benefits
  • Retirement savings program
  • Paid vacation
  • Leadership development
  • Meaningful decision-making authority
  • Direct influence over the future of our Ontario Service operation
  • Long-term career opportunity within a stable, Canadian, family-owned company

One Year From Now...

Your team knows what's expected of them.

They feel supported and accountable.

Technicians are productive.

Workflow and turnaround times are improving.

Quality is high.

Customers notice the difference.

You understand the numbers and know where the opportunities are.

And the Ontario Service operation is stronger than the one you inherited.

That's how we'll measure success.

Ready to Build Something That Matters?

We're looking for an experienced Service Manager who wants to take everything they've learned leading successful service operations and apply it to an industry where the work has a very real purpose.

You don't need to know fire trucks today.

Bring us your experience.

Bring us your leadership.

Bring us your ideas.

And help us build an Ontario service operation that our employees, our customers and our company can be proud of.

Join Safetek Profire.

Serving Those Who Keep Our Communities Safe.

Pay: $80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
