The Opportunity

As a Server at Sofia, you will be the primary touchpoint for our guests’ dining journey.

You will bring Sofia’s menu to life by sharing a deep knowledge of our culinary and beverage offerings, guiding guests through their meal, and taking precise orders. Working seamlessly with both front-of-house and back-of-house teams, you will maintain a welcoming, polished presence on the floor, ensuring every guest feels valued from their first drink to their final course.

What You'll Do

Elevate the Guest Experience

• Provide warm, prompt, and professional service to every guest in your section.
• Create genuine connections with guests, anticipating their needs to deliver an exceptional dining experience.
• Present menus, share daily specials, and offer confident recommendations tailored to guest preferences.
• Respond to guest inquiries, feedback, and special dietary requests with urgency, care, and attention to detail.

Service Delivery & Section Management

• Accurately take and input food and beverage orders into the POS system.
• Deliver food and drinks efficiently, ensuring orders are correct and accompanied by appropriate side dishes and condiments.
• Maintain section cleanliness throughout service, including active table grooming, crumbing, and clearing used dishes.
• Reset tables promptly and accurately according to Sofia's service standards.

Operational & Financial Execution

• Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the menu, ingredient compositions, and preparation methods.
• Ensure accurate billing, present guest receipts, and process payments securely in accordance with restaurant procedures.
• Complete assigned opening, running, and closing side duties efficiently.
• Maintain strong, respectful communication with kitchen and bar teams to ensure seamless service flow.
• Adhere to all restaurant policies, health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a hospitable team player who brings passion, professionalism, and positive energy to the floor.

You bring:

• Certification: Valid Smart Serve Certification is required; Food Handler Certification is considered a strong asset.
• Experience: 1+ years of serving experience in a fast-paced or premium restaurant setting is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity operating point-of-sale (POS) systems and handling financial transactions accurately.
• Service Orientation: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
• Composure & Agility: Ability to stay calm, organized, and professional under pressure during high-volume services.
• Team Mindset: Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented attitude.
• Physical Capability: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods and balance heavy trays of food and beverages.
• Commute: Ability to reliably commute to Yorkville (Toronto, ON M5R 1C1).
