The Role:
This position serves as the data lead for the Community Generosity team and is primarily responsible for optimizing data management and processes, extracting data, and analyzing constituent data. This position ensures data integrity and helps develop analytical insights that drive evidence-based decision-making on the Community Generosity team. This role also provides cross-functional guidance on data management and liaises with Information Management and Cybersecurity to develop analytical and technical solutions related to constituent data. As a lead in maintaining data stewardship, this role enhances operational efficiency and helps maximize the organization’s fundraising and community engagement efforts.
Core Areas of Responsibility:
As a Generosity Analyst, you will:
Data Management and Extraction
- Map and execute the data extraction for external communications, including direct mail, digital campaigns, and event invitations for all Foundation departments, ensuring accurate segmentation of the desired audience.
- Working closely with IMC, establish and follow data guidelines related to donors, fundholders, and grantees to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to privacy regulations and CASL compliance.
- Develop automated data validation procedures using business intelligence (BI) tools and database features.
- Monitor data integrity through regular quality audits and correct any discrepancies.
Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, and Reporting
- Conceptualize, build, and maintain dynamic data dashboards and analytic reports to support strategic decision-making within the Community Generosity team, including stewardship strategies, donor engagement efforts, and overall community generosity initiatives.
- Respond to management requests, in consultation with their manager, to execute custom data analysis and/or build custom reports.
- In collaboration with donor managers and senior leadership, execute donor/prospect research using external information, data mining, and relationship mapping tools.
- Research and develop donor and prospect briefing notes to support personalized stewardship efforts.
Recordkeeping and System Optimization & Improvement
- Develop and maintain detailed data coding guidelines for communications preferences, constituent types (e.g., individuals, holding companies), and relationships to other constituents to support streamlined data management.
- Identify, design, and implement process improvements related to gifts, grants, and end-to-end data workflows to streamline Community Generosity team tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IMC, Finance, and Community Impact) to optimize database workflows and processes, ensuring data integrity and efficiency across the organization.
Special Projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IMC, Finance, and Community Impact) on data-related and process improvement projects and initiatives.
Community Generosity Operations
- Provide training and support for staff on database and BI systems.
- Monitor best practice trends in data management, business and artificial intelligence tools, and prospect research through trusted information sources, professional development, and networking.
- Provide backup support to the Fund Stewardship Coordinator with grant recommendations and other essential administrative tasks.
- Ensure process documentation is created and updated as required.

Experience, Education, and Credentials
- Certificate, degree or diploma related to computer science or similar or other relevant education or experience.
- 3-5 years’ experience working in a data management and administrative or operational role, preferably in a fundraising or non-profit environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing relational databases and donor management systems.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in relational databases and Dynamics365 with the ability to create complex queries using built-in query tools and report builders
- Intermediate+ skills in Power BI (dashboard development, data modelling, and automated reporting) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and analysis tools)
- Proficient in data visualization
- Knowledgeable about data management and compliance requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex data insights
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrates self-efficacy with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage various tasks and effectively achieve results
