Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality support and care to individuals with diverse needs, including those with disabilities. Your energetic approach will help foster independence, promote well-being, and ensure a safe, respectful environment. You will lead by example, guiding less experienced team members while building strong relationships with clients and their families. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day through active caregiving and personalized support.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

  • Monitor the adherence to all Quality Assurance Measure (QAM) requirements.
  • Act as the primary conduit between the work location and Supervisor.
  • Provide personalized support to individuals in alignment with the Agency's Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles and philosophical statements.
  • Develop and implement Individual Support Plans as required.
  • Serve as the primary contact and liaison for individuals on your assigned caseload, as directed.
  • Foster open, effective communication and collaboration with individuals receiving services, colleagues, families, external partners, and supervisors.
  • Promote independence by assisting individuals in developing natural supports and self-sufficiency.
  • Ensure all supports comply with Agency Policies and Procedures, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Section 28) and the Medication Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Be available to report for duty during emergency situations, when possible.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years' experience in the Human Services field OR Post Secondary School Diploma in a related field and a minimum of 1 year experience.
  • Computer experience, specifically with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in a residential setting is considered a definite asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Up-to-date certificates in First Aid, C.P.R., Safe Management or C.P.I., and WHMIS.
  • Valid Ontario Driver's License, Class G, with access to and use of a reliable vehicle and Third-Party Liability Insurance in the amount of two million dollars.
  • Ability to meet the requirements contained within Article 12.06 of the Collective Agreement.
  • Understanding of the Agency's Vision, Mission, Service, and Guiding Principles.
