Overview:

As a key member of EHN Canada's Financial Planning & Analytics team, the Senior Financial Analyst, FP&A plays a critical role in supporting the organization's financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance management activities across our national network of treatment centres.

The role partners with leaders across corporate and clinical operations to develop financial insights, maintain robust financial models, evaluate business performance, and support strategic decision-making that furthers EHN's mission to make excellent addictions and mental health care accessible to all Canadians. The successful candidate will combine strong FP&A fundamentals with strong analytical and business partnering skills, translating financial and operational data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Forecasting

  • Support and lead components of the monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-term strategic planning in partnership with business and functional leaders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models supporting revenue, operating expenses, profitability, and cash flow planning.
  • Identify and analyze key financial and operational drivers and incorporate them into forecasts and planning models.
  • Develop scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess the potential financial impact of business decisions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Evaluate and challenge key assumptions to improve the quality and accuracy of financial plans and forecasts.
  • Continuously improve forecasting methodologies, assumptions, and processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

Financial Reporting & Performance Analysis

  • Conduct monthly actuals versus budget and forecast variance analysis, providing meaningful commentary on key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare financial reporting and management packages for business, facility, and Finance leadership.
  • Monitor financial performance against key business objectives and identify emerging trends and areas requiring attention.
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, concise insights and recommendations for non-finance stakeholders, including clinical and operational leaders.

Business Partnership & Decision Support

  • Partner with business and facility leaders to explain financial performance, challenge assumptions, and support informed decision-making.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for business cases, investment decisions, cost initiatives, and strategic projects.
  • Evaluate the financial implications of new initiatives, service lines, and changes in business assumptions.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and insights to support management priorities and strategic decision-making.

Process Improvement & Analytics

  • Identify opportunities to improve FP&A processes, reporting, financial models, and analytical capabilities through automation and standardization.
  • Develop and enhance dashboards and analytical tools that improve visibility into financial and operational performance.
  • Leverage financial systems, BI tools, and other data sources to improve analysis, reporting, and decision support.
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across financial models, reporting, and source systems.
  • Collaborate with Finance and cross-functional teams to improve the availability, quality, and usability of financial information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field; a CPA, CFA, or MBA designation (completed or in progress) is an asset.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or a related finance function.
  • Strong understanding of core FP&A processes, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial modeling, and management reporting.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to work with complex datasets and business drivers.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI, Vena, or other FP&A/BI platforms is an asset.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand how operational and clinical decisions translate into financial outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial concepts and insights to stakeholders at different levels, including non-finance leaders.
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining the ability to understand the broader business context.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, listen to diverse perspectives, and build strong relationships with business partners.
  • Proactive mindset with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve problems, and continuously improve processes.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience in healthcare or a multi-site services environment is an asset, but not required.
