SECURITY OPERATIONS ENGINEER (SECOPS)

Want to make a real impact in keeping British Columbia’s communities safe through innovative technology? PRIMECorp is searching for a Security Operations Engineer (SecOps) to join our team of technical and operational staff at our Burnaby office.

About PRIMECorp and PRIME-BC

PRIMECorp is the organization that managers PRIME-BC (Police Records Information Management Environment), which is the shared records and dispatch system used by police across British Columbia. It connects 14 police agencies and 135 RCMP detachments—over 10,000 officers—through one leading-edge platform that enables real-time data sharing to help prevent and solve crime. As the only province-wide, multi-jurisdictional system of its kind in Canada, PRIME-BC is recognized as a North American model for modern policing technology.

Why Join PRIMECorp?

  • Meaningful, challenging projects that have a direct impact on public safety;
  • A respectful and collaborative workplace focused on serving our policing partners;
  • Learning and development opportunities to help keep your skills sharp and grow your career;
  • Competitive compensation starting at $126,321/yr, plus full benefits, a hybrid workplace, 3 weeks holiday to start plus 2 weeks lieu time, participation in the Municipal Pension Plan, and more.

What we’re looking for:

  • Completion of a university degree in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Cybersecurity training in incident response, threat detection, or security operations.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, CEH, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Specialized training in SIEM, EDR, cloud security platforms, and next-generation firewall (NGFW) technologies is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in Security Operations, Incident Response, or Cyber Defense roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating technical responses to security incidents, including simulated security incident exercises.
  • Strong practical experience in log analysis, threat detection, and threat investigation.
  • Advanced knowledge of SIEM, EDR, XDR, SOAR, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management tools.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, endpoint security, and system hardening.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Enterprise Linux security architecture.
  • Knowledge of network security controls including Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), intrusion prevention, and network segmentation principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud security principles.

How to Apply

Given the nature of our work all employees are required to obtain, and maintain, a RCMP Security Clearance. To be eligible, individuals must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and have lived in Canada for at least 10 years . As ours is a hybrid workplace, candidates must also reside in the Lower Mainland.
