Job Title: Safety and Compliance Manager - Trucking Operations

Position Overview:
As the Safety and Compliance Manager for Trucking Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing safety protocols and compliance within the trucking division of our company. You will play a crucial role in developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance safety, reduce risks, and ensure regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a proven track record in safety management, and a strategic mindset to contribute to the overall success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Protocol Oversight:
  • Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of safety protocols within the trucking operations, emphasizing compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing safety and compliance team within the trucking division.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and implement risk management strategies specific to the trucking industry to minimize disruptions in the supply chain and ensure the safety of truck drivers.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure strict adherence to relevant trucking industry regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Implement and update safety policies to reflect the latest industry requirements.
  • Driver Training Programs:
  • Develop and oversee safety training programs tailored to the unique challenges faced by truck drivers.
  • Collaborate with external partners to enhance safety awareness in the trucking community.
  • Experience Management:
  • Monitor and assess the hours of service for truck drivers, ensuring compliance with regulatory limitations.
  • Oversee the management of accident and claims processes, working to minimize risks and liabilities.
  • Driver Hiring Knowledge:
  • Utilize your knowledge of hiring drivers to ensure that the recruitment process aligns with safety and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to assess and hire qualified truck drivers who meet safety and compliance criteria.
  • Performance Metrics:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of safety and compliance initiatives within the trucking division.
  • Analyze data and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing safety best practices, fostering innovation, and proactively identifying opportunities for process enhancements in the trucking division.

Experience:

  • Class 1 driver license with air brake endorsement.
  • Minimum 5 years of Class 1 driving experience.
  • Minimum of 5 +years of progressive experience in safety and compliance management within the trucking industry.
  • Long Combination Vehicle(LCV) certificate preferred.
  • Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) certificate preferred.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certificate.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing safety programs and driving compliance within a trucking environment.
