Full job description

Coastal Integrated is an established Vancouver-based AV and technology integration company (2003). We are expanding our security offering and are looking for an experienced Security Systems Technician / Security Alarm Installer with a BC TQ to help us build and lead this part of our business.

This is not simply another alarm installer position.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in the field but is ready to take more ownership. You will be our senior alarm technician and help establish our standards, select and deploy systems, commission projects, troubleshoot difficult problems, and mentor other technicians as we grow the division and include system design and engineering.

The work

Projects will include:

  • Intrusion alarm systems
  • Access control
  • CCTV / video surveillance
  • Alarm monitoring integration
  • Residential and commercial security
  • Integration with AV, automation and network systems
  • System commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Service and upgrades of existing systems

Our existing team handles sophisticated AV, networking, automation and control systems, so you'll be working alongside experienced technical people rather than starting from scratch.

What we're looking for

Required:

  • BC Security Systems Technician TQ / Certificate of Qualification
  • Appropriate BC Security Worker Licence
  • Strong hands-on alarm installation and troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Valid driver's licence

Strong assets:

  • C-R FSR (Field Safety Representative)
  • Access-control experience
  • CCTV / IP video experience
  • Commercial security experience
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior technicians
  • Experience with multiple alarm platforms rather than a single manufacturer's product

Why this role is different

We're not looking for someone to spend the next five years simply installing devices from somebody else's drawings.

We want someone who can help us build the alarm and security side of Coastal Integrated.

For the right person, this position can grow into responsibility for system standards, product selection, training, project design and eventually leadership of the security division.

You'll also have the support of an established integration company with project management, engineering, technicians, vehicles, tools and an existing customer base.

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
