About Us
Morinville Tiny Tots Preschool is a non-profit, parent-run preschool offering play-based programs in a warm, nurturing environment. We believe children learn best through strong relationships, encouragement, exploration, and play.
We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our team and work alongside our Lead Teacher to create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom for our preschoolers.
About the Role
The Assistant Teacher will work closely with our Lead Teacher to support the daily classroom program. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, is comfortable being hands-on, and takes pride in keeping a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines
- Support children during play-based learning, crafts, sensory activities, stories, and other classroom activities
- Help create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children
- Support children with transitions throughout the preschool day
- Assist with supervision and maintaining a safe classroom environment
- Help prepare materials and activities before and during class
Classroom Preparation & Cleaning
- Assist with classroom setup and preparation before class
- Clean and organize the classroom after each class
- Sanitize tables, surfaces, and frequently touched areas
- Complete daily and weekly toy cleaning and sanitization in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines
- Ensure toys, learning materials, and classroom areas are properly cleaned and ready for use
- Assist with maintaining an organized and hygienic classroom throughout the day
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with the Lead Teacher and preschool team
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with staff and families
- Follow preschool policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and child guidance practices
- Contribute to a positive team environment
What We're Looking For

- Comfortable with cleaning and sanitation responsibilities

- Committed to creating an environment where children feel safe, supported, respected, and excited to learn
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience working with young children is an asset
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) training is an asset
- Current First Aid & CPR certification, or willingness to obtain
- Current Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening as required
- Ability to meet all applicable preschool licensing requirements
- Previous experience in a childcare, preschool, daycare, educational, or similar setting is an asset
