Overview

Snickers Restaurant is one of Powell River's well-established and locally recognized restaurants, proudly serving the community for many years. We are known for our quality steaks, seafood, pasta, pizzas and classic Western favourites.

We are looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated Kitchen Manager / Chief to lead our kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys cooking, leading a team, and contributing to the continued success of a respected local restaurant.

Duties

The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily kitchen operations to ensure efficient workflow and consistent food quality.
  • Prepare, cook and plate menu items including steaks, seafood, pasta, burgers, pizzas and other Western-style dishes.
  • Lead the kitchen team during busy service periods and ensure meals are prepared accurately and delivered on time.
  • Train, mentor and support cooks and kitchen helpers to maintain high kitchen standards.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control and presentation to ensure consistency.
  • Assist with scheduling kitchen staff and assigning daily duties.
  • Maintain inventory levels and assist with ordering food and kitchen supplies.
  • Minimize food waste and help control food costs.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safe regulations, sanitation standards and workplace safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and timely food service.
  • Assist management with menu improvements, daily specials and continuous improvement of kitchen operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen.
  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, Head Line Cook, Sous Chef or similar leadership role is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Western cuisine and high-volume restaurant operations.
  • Excellent cooking skills with attention to quality, consistency and presentation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Food Safe Level 1 Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Language

English is required.

Ability to communicate in Mandarin or Cantonese is considered a strong asset, as the successful candidate will work closely with both English- and Chinese-speaking team members in daily kitchen operations.
