This is a unique opportunity for an RPN with experience or interest in wound care, emergency, medical-surgical, perioperative, or acute care to develop specialized skills in hyperbaric medicine.

Working within a physician-led, interdisciplinary team, you will provide hands-on patient care while assisting in the delivery of evidence-based Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). You will receive comprehensive team support and on-site training and employer-paid Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) certification. You will gain experience in patient assessment, chamber operations, patient monitoring, emergency response, and hyperbaric safety protocols.

This position offers competitive compensation, Monday-to-Friday daytime hours, and the opportunity to help build one of Southwestern Ontario's leading hyperbaric medicine programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess patients before, during, and after Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments within the RPN scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient condition throughout treatment and promptly recognize and communicate changes requiring intervention.
  • Assist physicians and the clinical team in the safe delivery of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.
  • Operate hyperbaric chamber equipment in accordance with established safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Maintain continuous awareness of multiple patients and chamber operations to ensure a safe treatment environment.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies following clinic protocols and assist with emergency procedures.
  • Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, and clinical observations accurately and completely.
  • Educate patients on treatment procedures, safety requirements, and post-treatment instructions.
  • Collaborate with physicians, Registered Nurses, wound care clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and ongoing clinical education.
  • Successfully complete Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) certification within the required timeframe (training fully funded by the employer).

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Minimum 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience preferred.
  • Experience in wound care, emergency, medical-surgical, perioperative, rehabilitation, or acute care is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated clinical assessment and patient monitoring skills appropriate to the RPN scope of practice.
  • Strong critical thinking and sound clinical judgment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a compassionate, patient-centred approach.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and effective during emergencies.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate clinical documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks in a dynamic clinical environment.
  • Comfortable learning and operating specialized medical equipment.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

What We Offer

  • Employer-paid Certified Hyperbaric Technician (CHT) training and certification.
  • Competitive compensation.
  • Monday-Friday daytime schedule with no overnight shifts.
  • Supportive physician-led interdisciplinary team.
  • Opportunity to work in a highly specialized and growing area of healthcare.
  • Modern clinical environment with ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with chronic wounds and other approved medical conditions.
