GRADE CONTROL GEOLOGIST

JOB DESCRIPTION:

HR Project Partners is currently accepting resumes for a Grade Control Geologist (GIT) on behalf of our client, Equinox Gold, Valentine Gold Mine. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in, or previously completed, a Bachelor of Science degree program in Earth Sciences with experience in a remote construction or operational setting with shift/rotations.

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, the Grade Control Geologist (GIT) will be focused on collecting and managing geological samples to accurately determine the grade of ore being mined. This role involves using geological modeling software to interpret data, creating grade models, conducting field inspections, and ensuring data quality to help the mining operation maximize profitability by minimizing waste and maximizing recovery.

This position is located at the Project site, working on a 2 week in/2 week out rotation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Participating in field work collecting, analyzing, and documenting rock grab, RC chip, channel and till samples.
• Directing drill and labour crew as needed.
• Collecting rock samples and performing quality control to ensure accuracy.
• Conducting field inspections to verify geological data and delineate grade blocks.
• Assisting in the creation of technical reports and communicating findings to relevant personnel
• Surveying proposed drill targets, final drill hole locations, trench outlines and sample locations.
• Geological mapping.
• Data compilation and interpretation.
• Actively participating in daily toolbox talks
• Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Currently enrolled in, or previously completed, a Bachelor of Science degree program in Earth Sciences.
• Experience in a remote construction or operational setting with shift/rotations is an asset.
• Experience in a Mining or similar industrial setting is considered an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:

• Team-oriented but individually driven to produce results.
• Competent with Microsoft Office and data management software.
• Good navigation skills.
• Mechanical aptitude in maintaining field equipment is an asset.
• Implementing procedures to ensure the integrity and quality of all geological data.
• Using software to create geological models, interpret data, and predict ore grades in block models.
• The ability to manage heavy physical work, which is defined as maximal lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 55lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and a driver’s abstract.
