Serenity Resources Ltd our mission is to provide culturally appropriate, safe, and empowering options for vulnerable youth and children so they will have the opportunity to reach their full potential and destiny.

We are currently seeking qualified individuals to work as part of a team providing support, supervision, life and social skills learning within our Residential Settings.

The duties will include assisting with day-to-day routines within the home, providing therapeutic and corrective interventions, attending supervised visits/appointments, assisting within the school environment, administrative duties which include writing dailies, incident reports, etc. on the agency's electronic database and assisting the team in establishing treatment and safety plans for the youth.

The successful applicant will be required to work days, evenings, and every (8 Hour Day 8 hour Awake shift)

  • Awake Residence worker 8 Hrs - $28.49/ Hour

Experience treating vulnerable and high-risk children and youth is an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the work-related social services field Minimum 2 year relevant diploma, or equivalent of education/experience working with children with behavioral, attachment, and other needs from a Trauma-informed lens.
  • Class 5 License and reliable vehicle
  • Standard First-Aid Level 1 with CPR
  • Understanding of mental health, substance misuse, attachment and trauma-informed practice

Job Skills and abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic online documentation programs
  • Conflict resolution and crisis management skills
  • Strong relatability and rapport building skills
  • Ability to perform basic household duties, such as maintaining a budget, grocery shops, meal preparation, cleaning and the ability to teach basic life skills
  • Versatility to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Creative in supporting clients in meeting their service plan goals Knowledge of and experience in the field of Mental Health.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs and able to physically participate in activities such as swimming, hiking, and biking.
  • Experience with FASD, ADHD, OCD, autism spectrum, aggressive and self-harming behaviour.
  • Good at setting boundaries with supported individuals while having excellent listening skills and empathy.
  • Experience following and implementing behaviour management and crisis intervention plans and using specialized augmentative and visual communication strategies, such as the use of PECS etc.
  • Able to prioritize, manage crisis, work independently and also as part of a team.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communications skills, including the ability to compile accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Available for continuous training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and training:

  • Standard First-Aid Level 1 with CPR

Experience:

  • Two years of recent experience working with at-risk youth, substance use, and/or mental health
  • Experience assisting at-risk youth in crisis.
  • A combination or education and experience can be considered

Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of needs of high risk and/or street-involved youth including harm reduction
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients
  • Ability to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage aggressive behavior, and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques
  • Ability to communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and a part of a team
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse population
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
