Notice of Initiatives/Opportunities Support Staff Vacancy (Up to 24 Months)

The Opportunity: The Itinerant Employment Consultant is responsible for delivering Employment Ontario programs in the College catchment area. The role is responsible for developing, planning, implementing, and monitoring client activities related to employment training programs and services and may include case management, assisted services such as employment consulting, coaching/mentoring, placement and resource and information services to assist unemployed workers to return to employment. This also includes participant recruitment and client marketing to employers, training plan development, pre-screening, workshop delivery, group facilitation, matching participants to vacancies, monitoring activities, file documentation and statistical collection. Incumbent will work in a performance-based system that includes targets and core measures which in turn gives a framework for program delivery. This role will take on a part of itinerant services in the community and operate in a CQI environment.

What you need to be successful:


  • degree in human services, business, or a related field
  • minimum three years experience in career guidance, employment planning, consulting, and/or job placement
  • demonstrated ability to foster exceptional, positive client service experiences
  • excellent communication skills required in a variety of delivery methods (in-person, phone, email, etc.)
  • bilingual (FR) considered an asset
  • ability to thrive in a busy, multi-tasking environment
  • demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Indigenous communities, marginalized populations and youth
  • proven ability to conduct outreach, establish network connections and deliver workshops information sessions
  • strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • must hold valid G license and access to a personal vehicle

Sault College provides an attractive total compensation package, encompassing competitive wages/salaries, a defined benefit pension plan, group insurance benefits, and a variety of employee perks. This is an Initiatives and Opportunities (I/O) support staff vacancy, located in Sault Ste. Marie, Payband I – $40.39-$46.64/hour (starting rate $40.39/hour), 35 hours/week.
