Sales Representative – (Ready Mix Concrete Specialist)

Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA)

Work Environment: On-site (office, client visits, job sites – not remote)

Reports To: Sales Manager / Area General Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a driven and knowledgeable Sales Representative focused on Ready Mix Concrete to lead business development across the GTA. This role is centered on growing concrete sales by developing strong relationships with contractors, builders, and project managers, while providing reliable supply solutions and technical support throughout each project lifecycle.

The position combines strategic sales execution, job‑based quoting, and customer relationship management to increase order volume, improve retention, and expand market share in the ready mix concrete sector.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Territory Management

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow market share and meet revenue targets.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the GTA.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with contractors, developers, municipalities, and other key stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular site visits to job sites and customer locations to assess needs and provide solutions.

Product & Technical Expertise

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on Ready Mix Concrete, including mix design, specifications, and performance.
  • Collaborate with technical and operations teams to ensure product quality and delivery standards are met.
  • Provide on-site technical support and troubleshooting when required.

Customer & Account Management

  • Manage a portfolio of accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and purchase orders in alignment with company policies.
  • Monitor customer performance metrics such as credit, delivery efficiency, and purchasing trends.

Marketing & Business Development

  • Support marketing initiatives including trade shows, product launches, and promotional campaigns.
  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Represent the company at industry events and professional associations.

Reporting & Administration

  • Maintain accurate records in CRM systems, including sales activities, forecasts, and customer interactions.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports and performance updates to management.
  • Assist with accounts receivable follow-up as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in business, marketing, or construction-related fields preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience in construction materials, with a strong preference for Ready Mix Concrete.
  • Proven ability to develop new accounts and manage a sales territory.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of concrete and building materials.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software.
  • Ability to analyze data and market trends to inform sales strategies.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • ACI Level I Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days) is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel within the GTA to visit clients and job sites.
  • Exposure to construction environments, including outdoor conditions and uneven terrain.
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs and use of personal protective equipment as required.
