What you'll do
- BC Hydro is making improvements to our incident management process and related activities in the near term. The

participate in this change and influence how BC Hydro responds to, learns from, communicates and manages incidents.
- As a member of the Safety Planning, Incident Management Team, the Senior Safety Advisor is focused on the continuous
assessment of those incidents to assist responsible management in the development meaningful corrective actions.
- Leads safety and health investigations for serious incidents occurring at any location; coordinates the work of the
with subject matter experts as required, and prepares final investigation report.
- Acts as the subject matter expert in the interpretation and application of safety incident management process and
presentation of findings and analysis.
- Reviews incident notifications for technical accuracy, conducts further research and investigation as necessary; follows-up
requirements.
- Oversees and supports the use of the incident management system, the communication of roles and responsibilities as
- Provides guidance and quality assurance in the development of effective corrective action plans (CAs) to address causes
- Audits the completion, implementation, and effectiveness of CAs arising from safety incidents.
- Works with regulatory agencies (e.g. WorkSafeBC) to provide the appropriate information required by regulators.
- Supports management as a subject matter expert in their ongoing relationship with WorkSafeBC in relation to incident
- Supports planning and development of employee training and mentoring in safety incident management and investigation.
- Supports development of incident management standards and processes.
- Supports continuous improvement of IT solutions for incident management, such as SAP IMS.
- Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
What you bring
- A university degree, certificate or diploma in safety engineering, occupational health & safety or related field, or an
- A minimum eight (8) years’ experience that preferably includes in-depth knowledge of utility, electrical, mechanical,
- Understanding of complex, technical matters as required by incident investigation, preferably with experience in leading
- Knowledge of incident investigation analytical tools, risk analysis, management systems, auditing and behavioral safety.
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulation.
- Well-developed analytical, research and report preparation skills.
- Possess strong relationship management skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with different levels of
- Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.

- This is a full-time temporary role for approximately 18 months.
- A condition of employment for this job is that you maintain your Driver's License: Class 5.
- Reliable transportation is required to be able to travel to incident locations throughout BC.
- The headquarters for this position can be Edmonds, Prince George, Kamloops, Vernon or Nanaimo subject to space
