About the Position

We are seeking a Field Safety Advisor with strong safety leadership to join our construction team in Edmonton, AB. This position will be full-time on the construction site. You may be required to work extended hours, including weekends when needed.

The key duties of this position include:

  • Liaise with the Field Operations Manager to develop, refine, and implement Safe Work Policies, Procedures, and Programs
  • Assist Site Foremen with incident investigations, finding root causes, and implementing corrective actions
  • Mentor field foremen and field employees in their safety-related responsibilities
  • Perform site inspections/audits to identify corrective actions and preventative measures
  • Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Safe Work Procedures specific to the site.
  • Monitor and evaluate employees and subcontractors for compliance with General Contractor Safety Requirements and Company Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Assist the HSE Department with the Field WCB Claims Management process

The ideal candidate will have:

  • CSO or NSCO Designation required; CRSP Designation preferred
  • Peer Auditor status preferred
  • Sound working knowledge of construction processes and procedures required
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a field safety role
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills to properly relate to foremen, tradespersons, clients and subcontractors; Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must possess a clear understanding of OHS Guidelines within all the Western Canadian jurisdictions
  • Knowledge and experience with Incident Investigations, WCB Policy requirements and regulations, developing Safe Work Policies, Procedures and Programs
  • Knowledge of use, care, and inspection of safety equipment
  • Ability to obtain Federal, Provincial, and Regional Security Clearance background checks
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Teams
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with vehicle to travel to various construction sites
  • Valid CSTS, WHMIS-2015, and Standard First Aid tickets preferred
