Full job description

Floor Manager – Marcin Bowl & Gutterballs
Point Edward, ON

Start Date: August 5, 2026

Job Description

Marcin Bowl & Gutterballs is looking for a hands-on Floor Manager to help lead our team and oversee the day-to-day guest experience throughout our bowling centre, restaurant, and bar.

We are not looking for someone who wants to manage from an office.

We're looking for someone who wants to be on the floor, involved, and present.

Someone who notices the guest standing at the counter before they have to ask for help. Someone who can bring a team together before a busy Saturday night, step in when things get hectic, confidently speak over a microphone, and make decisions when something doesn't go according to plan.

As our Floor Manager, you'll be responsible for keeping the building moving, the team communicating, and our guests having a great experience.

This is a role for someone who takes ownership, leads by example, and isn't afraid to jump in wherever they're needed.

What You'll Do

Lead the Team

  • Be the senior leader on the floor during your shifts.
  • Lead, coach, and support servers, bartenders, front counter staff, lane attendants, and other team members.
  • Set clear expectations and keep employees focused throughout their shifts.
  • Run pre-shift huddles and communicate important events, bookings, promotions, and priorities.
  • Provide real-time coaching and feedback when needed.
  • Recognize employees who are doing a great job.
  • Address performance, punctuality, and workplace concerns professionally.
  • Manage employee breaks and ensure proper coverage throughout the building.
  • Step into different positions when the team needs additional support.
  • Take responsibility for shift coverage when no other employees are available.

Create a Great Guest Experience

  • Be visible and approachable throughout the building.
  • Regularly check in with guests rather than waiting for problems to come to you.
  • Handle guest concerns and complaints calmly and professionally.
  • Look for opportunities to turn a good experience into a great one.
  • Help create a fun, welcoming, and energetic atmosphere.
  • Confidently speak on a microphone when making announcements or helping host leagues, tournaments, and events.
  • Be comfortable interacting with everyone from families celebrating birthdays to regular league bowlers and large corporate groups.

Keep Operations Running Smoothly

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the bowling centre and restaurant floor.
  • Keep communication flowing between the front desk, restaurant, kitchen, bar, and back shop.
  • Monitor lane assignments, lane availability, and operational issues.
  • Coordinate with staff when equipment or lane issues arise.
  • Ensure opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities are completed properly.
  • Monitor supplies and communicate when items need to be reordered.
  • Assist with leagues, birthday parties, tournaments, corporate groups, and special events.
  • Open and close the facility securely when scheduled.
  • Adjust staffing and responsibilities as business levels change throughout the shift.
  • Ensure food times are within company standards

Help Drive the Business

  • Communicate daily and weekly sales goals with the team.
  • Encourage staff to naturally recommend food, drinks, bowling packages, and add-ons.
  • Coach employees on effective upselling without creating a high-pressure guest experience.
  • Help execute promotions, themed nights, and special events.
  • Ensure promotional signage and marketing materials are visible and current.
  • Pay attention to how guests respond to promotions and communicate feedback to upper management.
  • Motivate the team and recognize employees when goals are reached.

Maintain a Safe Environment

  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the entire facility.
  • Notice and address spills, safety hazards, cleanliness concerns, or operational problems before they become bigger issues.
  • Ensure responsible alcohol service and ID policies are followed.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations.
  • Ensure the facility is properly secured when opening or closing.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Naturally takes initiative and doesn't wait to be told what needs to be done.
  • Is comfortable leading a team and making decisions.
  • Enjoys interacting with people and creating a positive guest experience.
  • Can stay calm when multiple things need attention at the same time.
  • Knows when to delegate and when to jump in personally.
  • Is confident having difficult conversations when necessary.
  • Communicates clearly with both employees and guests.
  • Is comfortable speaking in front of groups and using a microphone.
  • Notices the small details that affect the guest experience.
  • Takes ownership when something goes wrong and focuses on finding a solution.
  • Understands that being a manager sometimes means working alongside the team.
  • Can bring energy to the building without losing professionalism.
  • Wants to help create a workplace where employees feel supported but are also held accountable.

Experience in restaurants, hospitality, entertainment, retail, bowling centres, or other fast-paced customer-facing environments is an asset, but we're equally interested in finding someone with the right attitude, leadership style, and ability to take ownership.

Availability

The Floor Manager may occasionally be required to cover a shift when another team member is unavailable and coverage cannot be found.

Expected Start Date: August 10th, 2026

Why Marcin Bowl?

Marcin Bowl is more than somewhere people come to bowl. We're a restaurant, entertainment centre, league home, event venue, and community gathering place.

No two shifts are exactly the same.

One night you might be managing a packed league. The next you're helping host a tournament, welcoming a birthday party, solving a guest problem, helping the restaurant through a rush, or getting on the microphone to energize a room.

We're looking for someone who wants to be part of all of it.

Someone who sees a busy building and thinks:

"Let's go."

If you're looking for a management position where you can be involved, lead from the front, build a strong team, and make a real impact on the guest experience, we'd love to hear from you.
