Position Summary

Right Traffic is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Benefits Specialist to support the administration and ongoing management of employee benefit programs across our growing organization. This role will serve as the primary resource for benefits administration, employee support, carrier coordination, compliance monitoring, and benefits-related communications.

As our organization continues to expand across multiple states, the Benefits Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring employees receive exceptional support while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. employee benefits, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and voluntary benefits.
  • Process new hire enrollments, qualifying life events, status changes, and terminations.
  • Ensure benefit eligibility and enrollment information is accurate and maintained within HRIS and carrier systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and concerns.
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollments, claims issues, carrier inquiries, and plan navigation.


Open Enrollment Management

  • Coordinate and support annual open enrollment activities across multiple companies.
  • Prepare enrollment materials, employee communications, and educational resources.
  • Conduct benefit education sessions and provide ongoing support throughout the enrollment process.
  • Partner with brokers and carriers to ensure a smooth enrollment experience.


Carrier and Vendor Management

  • Act as a liaison between the company, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators.
  • Resolve enrollment discrepancies, billing issues, and employee coverage concerns.
  • Coordinate benefit plan changes and communicate updates to employees and leadership.


Billing and Reconciliation

  • Perform monthly audits and reconciliation of carrier invoices.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate payroll deductions and employer contributions.
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance teams to maintain accurate benefit-related financial records.


Compliance and Plan Governance

  • Support compliance efforts related to ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, Section 125 plans, and applicable state regulations.
  • Complete annual reporting, audits, and required notices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records related to benefits administration.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and recommend process improvements to maintain compliance.


Leave Administration Support

  • Assist with administration and tracking of FMLA, ADA accommodations, state leave programs, and other protected leave requirements.
  • Coordinate leave-related benefits continuation and employee communications.
  • Work closely with HR leadership to ensure compliance with applicable leave laws.


Employee Communication and Education

  • Develop and distribute employee benefit communications.
  • Create educational materials to improve employee understanding of available benefit programs.
  • Support onboarding activities related to benefits enrollment and education.
  • Promote employee engagement through ongoing benefits awareness initiatives.


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve benefits administration processes and employee experience.
  • Assist with benefits system implementations, testing, and enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain benefits procedures, workflows, and documentation.


Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in U.S. benefits administration required.
  • Experience administering multiple benefit plans and working with insurance carriers.
  • Experience supporting multi-state employee populations preferred.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of employee benefits administration and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, and related regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build positive relationships with employees and vendors.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CEBS, SHRM-CP, PHR, or related certification preferred.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS platforms.
  • Experience supporting benefits administration for organizations with multiple operating companies or locations.
