Full job description

Saffron Hill Market is an upscale pantry shopping experience featuring curated staples, quality fresh goods, and signature Saffron Hill products made in-house, including fresh pasta and sauces. Guests can stop in for a well-made coffee, pick up artisan bread and pastries, or find everything they need for dinner at home.

As a Barista / Market Attendant, you’ll spend most of your time at the coffee bar, preparing drinks with care and making guests feel welcome. You’ll also help guests discover Market products and keep the counter and displays ready for service.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, and specialty beverages to recipe and presentation standards.
  • Take orders, process payments, and assemble and package food and drinks for takeaway.
  • Help guests find products and suggest pairings, such as a house-made sauce for their fresh pasta.
  • Restock displays, rotate products, and keep the coffee bar, equipment, and work areas clean.
  • Follow food safety and allergen procedures and complete opening and closing duties.

What You Bring

  • Previous barista experience is a strong asset, especially espresso preparation, milk steaming, and equipment care. Training is provided.
  • A warm approach to guest service, attention to detail, and an interest in Italian food and local Nova Scotia products.
  • Café, specialty retail, or POS experience is an asset. Food handler certification is an asset, with willingness to obtain it as required.

How You'll Work

Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role involves standing or walking for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lb. Accommodations are available upon request.

Pay: From $17.75 per hour
